  1. Try using a sling shot with a 6.5x55 round
  2. Hi dazza, I am not sure of the ethic of marketing my dealers on the open forum, so just in case, I will PM you. If it is OK to post and others want to know they can educate me.
  3. If you want to shoot at 200yrds go for it! Just don't use a 22Lr to shoot live quarry at that range; targets great, who cares if you miss. My thought are if you want to kill things! use a .222 upwards and that way you it not about ifs & buts. The LR has to many variable at that range to be responsible; gun, ammo, weather, human.
  4. Thanks guys on the A Max stuff and the other bits. I was soft point that I really wanted but the dealer guy got this other stuff in and as he is just starting up I bought some anyway. If will get me started but next batch will have to be SPs. It will most likely take this batch just to get me used to the reloading kit. Sorry stuartp I have just bought the reloading kit works in America including a Kahles scope and brough it home with me. Just getting time now to set it up is the problem
  5. Hi I am looking for a nice load for both my 6.5x55 and .222. Power: Varget 6.5x55: A Max .222: V Max To be honest I am not sure what A Max is. V Max fine for fox. A Max is supposed to be less expansion but I am not aware of them. I will use the 6.5 for stalking and a bit of target. Will the A Max suit stalking??? Give enough penatration if hits a rib, not spoil meat etc etc Your thought please
  6. Never used them but I would agrees with Frank. I used the Stinners, hard to bolt up and the ejector could not get them out. I had to use a wee screw driver to remove them. Got rid of them. The problem was the stinner is a tad longer and thicker. I used them in a Ruger 77/22. Some on here once told me that Ruger now stamp on the rifle barrel not to use CCi Stingers. Don't know if that is true but do know keep them out of a Ruger. A high pressure round will often loose tight grouping. I use Winchesters Subs or Winchester Lazers. I shoot rabbits, head shot at (this spring) 92 yrds; well up for it. Lazers I have shot pigeons on the ground at 120yrs but more often I use them out ot 100yrs and tight at that; 32g and flater trajectory. That me
  7. Lighten up, Why? If you don't like something it a free world, so state it. For me it is distasteful. I will stick to vermin and the odd deer. That is my opinion stated. If you don't like it, re-run the video and ask the lepard
  8. Impossible to measure. Each shot will be different, hit different, different damage - minor, major, flattened, shaved etc. Angle different, ranges different. The only thing that is not a variable is that it is dangerous wither it hits someone or not. Yes we all have had one, but as someone else implies, we can't control a deflecting bullet but we can control where or what we shoot at. If you know there is no catle or people etc around within normal bullet travel then the deflection won't matter but now we get into ifs and buts. Good back stops and if you hit a stone and the dreaded happens, hopefully the angle will be square enough to cause major distortion to the bullet and range will be greatly reduced to yards. Thats my thoughts
  9. Yip! we got that M8, lay off the drink
  10. Looks like you are a BASC member? Ask them. That why you pay ££s each year. My thoughts for what my they are worth (nothing as I am not a legal expert) is that if there is no powder in them, used primer, and used brass, none of these have legal implication. The only bit then is the lead bullet. As far as I know you can buy these without a FAC. Anyway they are just fancy fishing weights So if you don't need a FAC for any of the bits, the law should not effect you. I have lost of brass that I don't have a ticket to hold live. I will make a view wooden bullet heads for some of them. Ps. My local dealer sell what you want to make in a nicely framed case in say! pistol, small rifle and large rifle calibres. They look the real deal and no FAC required to buy. Hope this is helpful
  11. Yes designed for shooting rats in barns or indoors. No way will they kill at 30 yards - think about it, a 12g killing zone is 25 - 35 yrs maybe a bit more They are like mini cartridges, but are a little more than just dust, but I know what you mean, very light grain. You won't get blow back if shooting a rat in a corner at close range Use them to often and they will damage your rifling in the barrel. Clean rifle well before and after use, as you do anyway.
  12. Try closing the door Next time you go camping with your dogs burry you know what!! Maybe they have got used to eating you know what???
  13. Brock the number would be a great start. I like the dark dogs with a little roney, they would be better for deer work, but look cool too. I know Belturbet, I used to white water kayak there. I note I said in my origianal post "retrive and find deer", I didnt mean retrive deer  A lab would work too but deer see black about as easy as white so I am told. As this dog will be part of the family the shorter the hair the better, it is to match mine, or what is left. Browning your dog lools dark
  14. At this stage I can't buy a dog but hope to get another one within a year. I fancy a german Shorthaired Pointer, but will it suit my styp of shooting. E.g. I shoot a lot with a rifle, rabbits, crows. I shoot crows and pigeons over coys, I do a wee bit of deer stalking. The dog needs to be a good family dog, good with kids and able to come into the house; my wife insists that this time around that how it will be It will get walked more than out shooting but will live in the country. Any ideas where to get on in either NI or ROI?? OH, I if I go for a GSP I want a liver one with a bit of roaning, but more on the liver side. OH, OH could in retrive and find deer???
  15. Any time you wash it down you will raise the wood grain again, that OK but you need to work back through all the paper grits again. Better to use cloth flexible abrassives. I would start 240, 320, and so on. Each piece is a tool and just removes the marks of the privious grit. This abrasive is top quality and you could use it wet if desired but being flexible it will not damage the wood as wet and dry "could" do. Once you start to oil it or dye it or spray it, if it is patchy just keep adding more dye or oil and it will all tone in after a few coats. If you are looking for the abrasive most good hardwares with have it or try anywhere that sells woodturning or carving type stuff. Craft Supplies in England will have it or J. D. Boddy. Hope it was OK to say that
  16. tulkyuk - no appology needed. goldfish - you need to go back and read the other replys I made to tulkyuk similar statement.
  17. tulkyuk give me some credit M8. I shoot 6.5x55 at the range, I know 6.5 is the bullet dia, and 55 the lenght of the case as with all european cartridges. What I was unsure of was I have never seen a 6.5 labled with the MM after the 6.5, as in: 6.5MMX55 I alway seen it 6.5X55 or if it had been 6.5X55MM that I would have got. Useless bit of blog: This is the calibre that they shot President Kennedy with, did you know that And b4 any other wise cracks I was only a wee kid then
  18. Travelling is not to much of a problem just plan well in time. Ammo is sometimes a bigger problem. When I go to Scotland, from N.Ireland, if I carry ammo I have to go on the slow steel ferry. It is incase the ammo prematurely combusts and burns a hole down through the boat and sinks it You guy know what I mean we have all seen ammo do this on a weekly basis, ya right But that is true, fast alloy ferry = no ammo, with ammo the old steel boat. By the way do you have a Euro pass??? I think you will need that to. Ps, check if you need you FAC conditioned to take your guns out of the country. I do.
  19. Boys! you guys are quick of the mark Thanks I never thought millimetres . I new the SM was Swedish Mauser Thanks
  20. They will most likely approve the gun/area for what the guns max manufactured capacity is for ie. 22LR. If you have the right air riffle it will out perform the CB Long and shot 10 fold. If you shoot in barns and outdoor too, the Air Arm s410 Extra (adjustable power) will do it all very well. Regards
  21. As you may know I bought a new 6.5X55 SM. Had it for a month and never fired a shot yet as I have not got my scope yet. Anyway, my FAC says 6.5MMX55 Here is a question for you! What does the MM stand for
  22. V-max now you are just showing off with all those photos Did I see correctly, do you have a proper cool store
  23. Good job all round to John and v-max. Why should anyone not like the shot v-max. There is not difference between and dead .22lr fox than a dead 22-250 fox. They are both stopped from killing lambs and chickens -right! The mess is part of taking a life. If you don't like it don't shoot. What I see is a clean humane kill and that the point
