  5. Last week i shot a crow in the head on the farm, its head was the only part sticking over the brow of the hill. not sure how far was maybe around a 100 yds or a a little more. I was pretty happy.
  6. had my 140 for a year and had no probs.
  7. Yeh solidworks is pretty good, ive been using for the past three years at uni and made a few prototypes from it. download a copy though its a bit expensive. I wrote a G code procedure once at college, never again.
  8. righting CNC code sucks ***, there are so many G's. you would be best off getting a decent CAD system and CNC programme, it takes alot of practice though.
  9. We just finished cutting 60 acres yesterday and are starting on the main crop on monday. its been pretty dry down here sounds like some of you guys have had a bit of rain, ****** all down our way.
  10. I made my own after work yesterday. 4 nice bits of hazel spiked at one end and i made a foot press out of metal which attaches to the side of each one. Cost me nowt as i used scrap out of the workshop, used them today and they were great.
  11. Farm Landrover and a few boxes
  12. Had a session on our first field of rape that has been cut yesterday. Its around 60 acres and has a mild bank to it. Myself and a friend created a hide with two ghost cammo nets setup in a corner of the field which had a large amounts of brambles around it. The pattern was of a horeshoe shape around 20 yards wide made from 12 full body decoys and 8 shell decoys. It included 1 flapper and a magnet with hypaflaps on it. We drove out in the landy and a few birds flew off but not as many as we had hoped for, although as we setup 2 birds flew into the pattern while we were still getting ready, so things looked good. It was 12.00 and there was a good wind behind us, the day stay started slow with 1's and 2's coming in and picked up around 3.00 with a steady few coming in. We had a few large groups of around 6 to 8 come in and some very challenging shots. A couple came so close to the hide i could have netted them. By around 4.15 we had 26 in the bag and alot of misses and then they started to flair off, after a few pairs and quite alot of singles flairing we removed the magnet and flapper but to no real avail. The sky's started to empty so we packed up at 5.00. This is our first session on the pigeons and with another few hundred acres of rape left to be cut things look promising. I used my Beretta A303 (cheers Lez) and Paul used a Mossberg pump. We were happy but think we need a bit of practice as the bag should have been over 50, 21 picked up and 5 lost in the surrounding crop.
  13. we usualy cut it at anything around 15% moisture and dump it on our drying floor and blow air through it.
  14. could i have some info to please hawkeye
  15. rape and turnips for the sheep?
  16. We are combining our rape tomorow, friday would be 14 days after spraying but the pods are starting to shatter so its time to make some stubble.
  17. Loads about on the farm i work on, we spotted 7 one night and shot 2 of them.
  18. Went out tonight to a local field in the village with my .22 rifle. Plan was to lay up in a hedge which had a good view of a long overgrown ditch and shoot the rabbits which came out before the light disapeared. I had brought my lamp as well which i had on a small battery so as it got too dark i could switch to that and have a look around teh rest of the fields. There are three in total, all grass, probably about 30 acres each. One is heavily overgown and the rabbits cant be seen but the other two have large spots which have been kept well short by the rabbits and make for easy spotting. Started about 7.30 and got in position. After about an hour i had six in the bag and lost two in the hedge, could have been a few more but i missed a few really close ones and there were quite a few too far away. As it got dark it started to rain so i packed up and let the rest be. I think they are all this years young ones.
  19. Had a look at the rape today, the seeds still look pretty green, some are just starting to turn brown. 6 days gone, potentialy 4 left to go. The boss usualy gets itchy fingers by 10 days and starts wanting to combine.
  20. Usualy our rape stubble stays around for at least a month. Probably wont get cultivated till after harvest and then sown with winter wheat later on. Hopefully it will get cut on the weekend then i can shoot with the combine, instead of running the bloody drier.
  21. they do look quite interesting, £25 cheaper than another flapper as well.
