  1. probably a net and a big stick if we are talking really back in the day or just a musket or blunderbuss if we are talking in terms of a few hundred years hundred years
  2. Yeah the T-rex kicks some but then again that thing is next to useless even for elephant the sheer kick of it ...well youve seen one of the worlds most powerfull rounds but if your not dinosaur hunting not really practical
  3. Well done bet the farmer was well pleased
  4. Cracking liitle pup you have there, have to let us know how the rest of his training goes
  5. Have to agree the s410's are fantastic guns, reckon i would rate the rapid 7 slightly higher tho as a second hand one (when you can find one) are usually very reasonably priced and with fantastic performance. but both would be ideal for uk hunting (pest control)
  6. Quackenbush .457 LA outlaw its only about 450 quid with a select stock but once importation etc is sorted 7-800 is probably nearer the mark, but what other airgun do you know that people have genuinely (no fairy tales here) managed to shoot 2000lb buffalo with? not to mention antelope wild boar etc etc, but more than that it is a link to our past beleive it or not their was a time when airguns were for the elite only and were amonge the most powerfull and accurate firearms on the planet (cannons and non man portable guns excluded ofcourse) I like the la outlaw in particular as it is accurate, unique and hand made. Either that or my brocock SCAC rifle since i like the novelty of its action (by that i mean its cartridges) very inventive....
  7. There will be alot better rifles out there than a druganov. the chinese version is called a type 85 rifle. the romanians also do one called an FPK (althought this one is more like a modified AK47 styled like a druganov) The druganov was designed to increase the effective range of a russian infantry squad to 600 meters.... now from that you need to gleam an important peice of info "effective" can mean two things harressing fire or lethal fire in either case its basically saying it can hit a human with a good probability of killing at this range but that doesnt mean it will win any bench shooting competitions some snipers can shoot and kill a human 1000meters with it but ultimately its primary design is rugged low maintenance sniper rifle as opposed to a target rifle. If you really want a good target rifle i would recommend a true purpose built target rifle (possibly something based on the remmington 700 action *or even a remmington 700 with heavy barrel and synthetic stock*as accuracy international who design our sniper rifles reckon its one of the best for accuracy) military sniper rifles are rugged weapons (especially the russina ones) aswell as good shooters, not pure tac drivers so unless its for hunting or for the novelty value a proper target rifle would be more fit for purpose.
  8. Great offer if you were abit nearer id bite your hand off myself
  9. Points taken given its no 2 shot aswell i was wondering if a more open choke would have been more accurate (not squishing shot) anyway ive not fired steel shot ever so didnt know it reacted so badly to tight chokes but did know wildfowlers usually (obviously since change in law this is used to) have tight chokes on guns that why i thought the pattern was especially good since if it was through a full choke the shot was most likely squished if it was size 2. Learn a new thing everyday ....
  10. Assume you were using full choke good patterning for number 2 steel from that range!
  11. Thats nothing i did 500 yarder with an elastic band fired from my third leg dont you know
  12. Agreed lets not discourage a guy who is providing a valuable service to our members

  14. Let me guess he was also fishing at the the same time with "the other hand" lol
  15. it actually says in the home office guidance section 13.something (bit about big game shooting) if a person and it uses the .375h&h as an example has a big game gun suitable for plains game and it is used abroad/target shooting it should also be allowed for deer hunting if the applicant does not already have a suitable deer rifle....i know its abit late but just a hint
  16. Nor can i that B@#tard owes me for a new keyboard having projected a cup of tea all over it and my monitor reading your last post
  17. Completely agreed cant beleive 7 1/2 is even being considered in 7 1/2 they will be considerably lighter and have much poorer penetration they killing/hitting power would be a serious question that would need to be asked and quite frankly i think BASC would be mortified if they were told
  18. Extrema 2 all the way i will be after it, after i get married next year - its an awesome tool cycles all the different loads you could possible want and ive known people to put 1000's of carts through without ever having any problems, another advantage is the recoil dampening tech on it since if you wanted to it is chambered to accept 3 1/2 shells (and steel shot) so would make a great wildfowling gun try one out beleive me awesome peice of kit
  19. Remember rabbits are very sensitive to vibration near their burrows if they run in sit up in range and out of site near the hedgerow where there burrow is and wait approx 30 min and they should be back if your quiet. Failing this go to another field for abit and come back and try again. Personally when i rough shoot and they have scurried into their burrows in the hedgeline i tuck myself into the trees and hedge rows about 20 yards away and try and find a stump within eye shot then just sit and wait out...20-30 min later they are back and i give them 10 min or so for a good few to go out of the burrow and venture a little further away then let em have it.
  20. In a powerfull enough rifle this guy has the right advice bisley magnums all the way - but in answer to your question i find the prometheus inaccurate and in some of my rifles it gets jammed in the barrel (yes i am using the right cal. in the rifle) in short not suitable for task in my mind matey just stick to the tried and tested
