  3. and why wouldn't the gun have the safety catch on ? Like this one you mean? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7068549.stm Ooops
  4. c/o wikipedia For a decade F1 cars had run with 3.0 litre naturally-aspirated V10 engines, but in an attempt to slow the cars down, the FIA mandated that as of the 2006 season the cars must be powered by 2.4 litre naturally-aspirated engines in the V8 configuration that have no more than four valves per cylinder. Further technical restrictions such as a ban on variable intake trumpets have also been introduced with the new 2.4 L V8 formula to prevent the teams from achieving higher rpm and horsepower too quickly. As of the start of the 2007 season all engines are now limited to 19,000 rpm in an effort to improve engine reliability and to cut costs down in general. Once the teams started using exotic alloys in the late 1990s, the FIA banned the use of exotic materials in engine construction, and only aluminum and iron alloys were allowed for the pistons, cylinders, connecting rods, and crankshafts. Nevertheless through engineering on the limit and the use of such devices as pneumatic valves, modern F1 engines have revved up to over 18,000 rpm since approximately the 2000 season. Almost each year the FIA has enforced material and design restrictions to limit power, otherwise the 3.0L V10 engines would easily have exceeded 22,000 rpm and well over 1,000 hp (735 kW). Even with the restrictions the V10s in the 2005 season were reputed to develop 960 hp (715 kW). The new 2.4L V8 engines are reported to develop between 700 hp (520 kW) and 780 hp (582 kW).
  5. I watched James May's high speed run in the Veyron on TG ealier this week, c/o BBC America. What a beautifully engineered piece of kit
  6. Martin - I'd love to help BUT Debra of the NJ Nets already has a restraining order out against me...
  7. My sister's bloke had surgery for something similar last week - as Digger says youth IS on his side. All the best NB.
  8. This gets my vote for post of the week!
  9. I don't see my donation LB Don't tell me the dollar is that undervalued against the pound
  10. Hrm, don't agree. If you are doing daft things with 1440p/WQXGA, you are into distributing HDMI via dual CAT5 (or something equally sick) or you have large cable runs, don't worry about it, it simply isn't going to make any difference you will see. Doing 1080p with deep colour at high refresh rates, maybe make sure you have a cable which meets the HDMI 1.3 spec. That is unless you are someone who lies awake worrying about intersymbol interference Edit: I was only on about digital, fair comment on analogue cables Now I'm really lost
  11. Something like " I say, you there, yes the chappie with the gleaming white plimsolls, do put my memsahib down before I can pop a cap in your ****" Pip pip NB.
  12. Yeah the rules are different all right - in most States you can do what you want - here in the Peoples Republik of NJ its worse than the UK. Even though this particular gun is an antique it still is subject to the normal transfer process and $75 fee + tax Other things that are COMPLETELY illegal include: catapults. fireworks. bonfires. November 5th just ain't the same.
  13. Given the opportunity I can drink Irish whiskey all day long: Bushmills Jamesons Powers Tullamore Dew I used to love Scotch but lost interest and now actually hate the taste of it.
  14. I must stop visiting online gun auctions in search of bargains but I just can't seem to help myself . Talked myself into this 18??'s converted percussion muzzle loader to hang on the wall. I don't think I'll be shooting it any time soon as the barrels are a bit too thin - shame really as it fits me nicely. [
  15. I'm not sure that any new laws have been introduced over here pertaining to the export of firearm parts. There are so many different agencies involved when it comes to law enforcement and firearms regulations that your average gun/accessory retailer might just find it easier to pass on a sale rather than get involved in overseas deal. Guess it depends on the individual store. Canadians seems to be treated slightly differently hence TLE having little or no trouble. If you want to find out if its legal try the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms website - should be easy. Trying to convince a reluctant retailer that its legal might be a little harder.
  16. Bon pour vous Nous sommes justes un groupe de garçons d'école.

    what 4x4 ?

Makes me laugh you put american poor build on the merc but not the cherokee! And also has the worlds smallest rear seat leg room for a car the size of an aircraft carrier. The Jeep doesnt get a good write up for cornering (but then what Yank car does ?). The other critiscism is the rear legroom as you rightly say. The reviews dont say anything about poor build on the Jeep....I await all the links to reviews now !!........... Jeep Grand Cherokee's have a reputation for dangerous handling (thats by American standards as well). After one experience I have vowed never to even ride in one again. I think that the Mk1 Jeeps were assembled in Austria ride and very cramped in the back. I had a Mk 2 3.7L for two years and they were much better - seat upholstery did'nt wear very well.

    what 4x4 ?

LV Don't overlook the Merc ML's. Its true that the early '98 - 2000 models were a bit **** to say the least - but MB quickly put that right. We bought a 2002 ML320 with 42K miles earlier this year and its been great I'd imagine the diesel's are pretty good as well.
  20. Plus primitive ye olde carte sprung ride as well... me back.
