  1. I know mate they are great at this time of year when all the crops are still up. Rabbits and foxes with nicely manicured grass to walk over
  2. I was out lamping with Ratcherman last night on one of his golf course permissions . Its great having these to go lamping on as all our farm permissions are covered in crops and cant get at any foxes at all. Any how it wasn't raining for a change We were sitting in the motor waiting for it to get dark which at the moment it doesn't really , when we heard some foxes cackling and being very vocal not a few hundred yards away We lamped the first fairway where I expected to see them but nothing showing except a roe doe and twins. I started squeaking and still nothing showed then as we moved off back up the fairway I spotted the ruby eyes. I thought it would be a cub as it was totally oblivious to the lamp but after Ratcherman had done the business we found it was actually the vixen . We left her out and continued round the course coming back to it later hoping the cubs would show but unfortunately not Another trip back is now in order ...
  3. Yet again Dave a cracking day out and a good read to boot. Shame aboot the Salmon Once again you are very lucky to live in that part of the world ...
  4. No mate as a fox shooter I would welcome a few more around  Not sure the farmers would though
  5. I know I cant wait til fields are cut as I've seen cubs on every farm I shoot but cant get at them yet ..
  6. Didnt know that, thanks for the heads up !!!
  7. I once went to Essex foxing near Orsett I think. You are lucky your fox population is very high not like up North.
  8. I went to one of my permissions this morning at 4.30 am which is covered in rape, barley and wheat to see how the crops were doing and if any pigeons were hitting them. I took the rifle just in case I spotted anything as its **** law you will if you don't take it .... I didn't expect to see anything at all but you never know. I had to cross an awkward fence so I placed my rifle through safe and crawled through when I noticed a fox cub not 20 yards from me :o I froze and very slowly picked up my rifle , the cub was looking in my general direction but I was obscured slightly by undergrowth. :yp: Luckily I was able to get a shot off so just goes to show always expect the unexpected
  9. Good result mate. Shooting off sticks takes a bit of practice , I also used to be hopeless off them but now find I'm not too bad once in a routine .
  10. All I can say is BRILLIANT !!!!
  11. Another fantastic read mate Where do all those bucks come from ? is the surrounding ground not shot? I love to see pics of that valley , truly stunning scenery. Looks a good piece of kit that cradle on the motor door !!!

  15. I know this but was just wondering if anyone else had witnessed this.
  16. I was out rabbit shooting the other night and shot this doe crossing a grass paddock with its mouth stuffed full.As I looked through the scope I could see it was carrying straw but on closer inspection noticed its mouth stuffed full with its belly fur , obviously ready to line its nest before giving birth. I have never witnessed this in nearly 30 years of rabbit shooting, has anyone else witnessed this? I don't know how it was able to breath as its mouth was literally stuffed full!! :o
  17. Nice mate , is it a CZ varmint?
