    EU In or out

Not strictly true on the human rights point. The EU has given us the charter of fundamental rights which in some ways is arguably more effective than the echr (which is of course a council of Europe instrument) the charter protects a raft of social and economic rights (like our rights as workers, trade unions, healthcare etc...) which the echr does not it because it is built on civil and political rights. Anyone, as I said it was light relief.

I think most people would know that. I put it up for some light relief! But out of interest which ones are wrong?
  3. A resovoir cranfield. Pretty high up. Its actually a valley with a dam at one end, so yes it does hold quite a few birds probably. The rainbows seem to grow on particularly well, although there are also some cracking browns about. This weekend I will be giving the sea trout a bash in the saltwater or may be pigeons. Haven't decided. I think I am going to post few more of my angling exploits this year.

  5. Ahhhh. The public consultation. Bringing credibility to the decision a minister has already made!

You know what. It just struck me. This is a pigeon shooting site and no one has asked the question what leaving the EU would mean for crop production, particularly osr? Before osr subsidies winter pigeons here were emense. Would there be less osr if we left? I definitely vote to leave

Look. The rules are simple. They need to be juicy and there needs to be enough to give you a good mouthful. Now I understand why former members of the Bullingdon club are leading the IN campaign.
  8. EU. You would never have had this problem in good old days before the introduction of ovine and caprine Directives. Those pesky Bureaucrats.
  9. I braved the elements in search of an early season trout yesterday. On with the fast sinking line and I managed to pull out a couple of nice overwintered rainbows. No sign of a brownie though, pity. On the walk my buddy stopped hard. He looked back with a look of disappointment when he realised there was no gun. I took a photo, the bird was sitting very tight. I sent him in and up popped a woodcock.

Give me a good slug over escargot any day. Continental muck.

Absolutely not. I want all my produce in uniform sizes. The rest should be ploughed in. Your being ripped off with smaller than average plums! That's why we need EU regs.
  12. They are probably claiming benefits as well. Or worse, not paying their taxes. Or, God forbid - foreigners coming over here stealing a good honest day begging from the locals!

In fairness, the regs apply to 5 vegetables\fruit. 5000 words per food type doesn't seem too excessive. Such precise legislative drafting would definitely sway me to an IN vote. 😁
  14. 4 people have died on the streets here in last few weeks. Many have mental health problems or dependency. They are not earning £500 per day and their life looks pretty misreable to me, and often violent. The hostels are full of drugs and so the ones who don't want to be subjected to this often rough sleep. Next time I am speaking to one, I will tell them to get themselves off to Wolverhampton where the streets are paved with gold!
  15. Gordan R. You will excuse me, if I don't engage with you in future. Others, like rodp, poontang etc... I may disagree with but I more than happy to listen to their views and fight my corner. But your direct suggestion that I am an apologist for terrorism is a disgrace. And i will be sharing nothing with you regarding my own life. So good luck to you my friend.
  16. Fair enough. But they arn't. So would you send them back? I am talking about the refugees, not the economic migrants? Because sending families back to ISIS really is not an option. Or may be it is.
  17. For dear sake. There is no such thing as a economic refugee! And as for Pakistan, I wouldn't no where to start. Come on, just look through the kyber pass. Start with the mugahadeen supported by the CIA and go from there. The web is long and messy, but don't think as serious view would deny the central role of the USA.
  18. I am no apologist for terrorism, having experienced bit. Your remarks are pretty offensive buddy and uncalled for.
  19. I was in Pakistan not to long ago and if you think there are not genuine asylum (not refugees) coming from there, then I would invite you to visit a church in islamabad on a Sunday and speak to few members of the congregation. And if you think pakistan's problem has nothing to do with the usa, well what can I say.
  20. I have returned!!! So, I assume you are a UK citizen? In which case HM government, represents you and I. When they act they do so in our name! Embarrassing quite often, but nonetheless there is the truth. Their actions helped cause this crisis. Their inactions have failed to resolve it. We (the UK), therefore have some responsibility to act to assist refugees on at least two counts. And incidentally refugees legally are not exactly the same as asylum seekers, but there you go. Children are innocent's regardless of the blame game and whataboutery! I live in a compassionate democracy that has a proud history of helping the most vulnerable. I don't think we should open the gates or let economic migrants in. But I sure as hell don't think the UK should do a Pontius Pilate.
  21. Thought that would get you going rodp!!! 😁😁
  22. Ah, gentlemen the dialogue of the deaf is alive and well on PWs as per usual. I respond to only two points and then leave you to it for a bit. It's the children issue. Many are unaccompanied and that is well documented and they are unaccompanied for a whole variety of reasons. Second point, if you have to ask the question 'what did we do?' Then you must be living in a bubble. The middle East has imploded and we 'the west' largely lead by our closest friend 'uncle sam' have been up to our eyes in it. Its all well and good to conduct a 'just war'. But with war comes moral responsibilities. And as I said from the outset, this does not mean I disagree with the economic migrant argument per se. I simply think a moment of reflection before blanket stereotyping would add some balance. Hundreds of thousands of people don't do this lightly. There but for the grace of God my friends.
  23. So here's the thing. 1. It is a 'rights' issue. But that doesn't mean they have the 'right' to come to the UK. More importantly, for many it is a humanitarian law issue and those who are refugees should be protected at their first stop outside of the relevant war zone. But setting that aside I would worry at the one size fits all judgement! 2. You would need to be blind not to see the unaccompanied children! Surely everyone's humanity would want to protect them? 3. France needs to do more, but so does the UK. After all, we not blameless for the tide sweeping Europe at the minute. 4. Yes there are economic migrants, but there are also people leaving the above situation and they sure as hell arn't fleeing simply for the 'good life'. Sometimes the simplistic rubbish spouted is beyond belief.

It's all ifs, buts and maybes. You may as well toss a coin on the detail. The only certainty is in your own mind. Do you like the thought of being increasingly european or do you want to kick against that trend. If yes, vote to stay in. If no, then vote to leave. I guarantee the rest won't be any clearer on polling day.
