  1. When I (as everybody did) first seen the S200 we all belittled or criticised it. But now being the owner of one I wouldn't change a thing. The grip is comfortable, the fore-end is practical. I grant you it doesn't feel like a "real gun", but it can outshoot me.
  2. YES I always try the pellet recommended by the manufacturer (usually their own make), and a couple of favourites, got through experience. As you have a S200 try this, it is good for mine :- Zero for 30yds with AA fields 30yds = zero 20yds = 3/4 inch high (hold under needed) 10yds = same as zero The same settings with Bisley Magnums gives you 30yds = 1 inch low (hold over needed) 20yds = zero 10yds = zero Mine is putting out 10.8ft/lb with the AA, I have been using the AA with rabbit and the Bisley Magnum with rats (bisley are a little tighter) on this same scope setting. Saying that though I am going to re-zero and try RWS super H point on everything as it has been recommended to me.
  3. I was suprised to get excellent grouping at 30 yds with the .22/S200 and these pellets, would there be enough ft/lbs at this range for rabbit. Or is the pellet specifically for close range, anybody use them on rabbit with success?

    Rats!

Well said Quist As long as it's killed humanely (even though it's a rat) that's ok, and correct in my book.
  5. I see them regular on one of my shoots. Once wrote to Peter Theobald (Sporting Gun - still got the reply letter), after shooting one with almost total white wings several years ago, to ask if it was valuable, he seemed to think not really, they're quite common, so out of the goodness of my heart I OFFERED and GAVE it to a local taxidermist (does the game shows and advertises in the mags), on the understanding that once mounted he would send me pictures, still waiting for them, lesson learned now I feed them to the foxes. Still wonder how much he sold it for. You will notice that if you see one you'll see more, as it's handed down in the generations in an area, and the "white" is symetrical to either side of the bird.
  6. I know some people have success with crows on the whirly, but I never have, opposite effect if anything. But what I have done with limited effect is to set it up 100's of yards away (next field), to get them in the area and hope that when they spook at the whirly they'll come over to the decoys. Try it, like all decoying sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, it's on the day.
  7. Got several tins of pellets with only a couple used when trying out different brands (mainly .177 and .20). Is it feasible to offer for sale or is the posting costs too expensive making it not worthwhile?
  8. Got a gamo delta .177 plinker, (from my kids but little used), immaculate condition and in box, designed for youngsters. Anybody interested for their kids drop me a PM and make an offer, buyer pays P+P. Can take photo if any genuine interest.
  9. Best not to keep them in the slip, leave them have a good airing to dry condensation (coming in from outside cold to warm house). Although I do have SGC and FAC, and therefore need cabinets, although not compulsory, I always keep the sub 12's in a cabinet for safety.
  10. This is who I had my information from www.bristolchanneldiving.co.uk
  11. Talking to Paul Hart in his tent at the Welsh game fair yesterday, seems a really nice guy. He was saying sales were slow as being such a hot day nobody wanted to try coats on. Hope it picked up for him today as the weather has changed completely opposite.

Hawkeye I was literally just going to ask the same question when I seen your post. I'm on broadband and it's slow as hell.
  13. Malcolm I asked a lamp question (Logun or Deben), for close range ratting with sub 12 ft/lb and FAC range rabbits and after advice had a Deben Max 400m beam. Had the lamp with normal on/off switch and scope clamp etc, bought the switch with the variable light control as an extra, spare bulb, red snap filter, all for £83-50. Think I saved a few quid for show price from the Welsh gamefair. Was going to try it tonight on the rats, but the bloody exhaust decided to snap in half on the car . What I can gather is the quoted beam range is always a bit optimistic and with a filter on is less again One thing I am going to get to finish it off is another scope clamp (£4-95 plastic or £7-50 aluminium for 25mm), as they are quite tight so I can leave one on each gun.
  14. A cheap way is an old pair of fine net curtains sewn into a bag. Easy to wash for hygeine. Another tip I used to do around the ferret cots (and bins) is to hang sticky fly papers or the yellow square ones that gardeners use.
  15. fiiish 1987 Did you stroke or strangle the cat? I've had foxes, owls, buzzards, sparrow hawk, magpies and a jay. I use the palm of my hand, below the first or middle finger, but find the longer I do it the worse I sound so then I use a bought caller. Only shoot problem foxes, mainly do it for magpies.
  16. Hi Stuy, If you live in a small village 20 miles outside Cardiff, South you'd be in the Bristol Channel, West you'd be in Swansea and East you'd be in Newport (or near), so my guess is your North and a "valley boy", right or wrong?
  17. Cheers boys, I can see the boxes you mean. Never done nothing before and they came up as sent, has it changed in the last week?
  18. Davrian I thought like you that bottles needed testing every 5 years, but when I took mine for a refill last week to a diving shop, I posed the question and he said (and showed me a chart to prove it), that any bottle filled with "AIR" that is for guns only requires 10 year testing only.
  19. Can any moderators (or anyone) shed any light on a problem? My incoming PM's seem ok, but my outgoing PM's are not being logged as sent, so I assume not being received by whoever. Cheers

Mel, I had your PM, but my outgoing PM is not working it seems. Can you PM me with your phone number so I can contact you.
  21. As has been said 3/4 grown are best eaters. A full grown will either be a doe full of young or a buck as tough as hell. You can eat both but not the best if you can pick your shots. With the mixy, I think I can remember someone suggesting that if they are left alone they sort of immunise themselves to it, and the ones that survive pass this onto their young, but if you see one infected it,s hard to walk and leave it.
  22. My PM's to you two tonight are not showing in the "sent items" did you get them?

    Try again

Kept the smaller ones, "barted" the bigger one for a pint. But the guy was a bit drunk, so ended up having two off him.
  24. Here are a couple of rabbits from a barley field which they were slowly decimating. I normally don't take rabbits at this time of year, but they are out in force and playing hell. Just sat quietly in the hedge outside the bury and downwind, and as they came out onto the already eaten part of the crop -SPLAT -job done. These were with the FAC, but I've had some with the S200 also. Their all around the field, so I decide where to go and pick gun to suit. Can't get a picture up, keeps giving me error message, I'll try again sometime. Got it see under "try again"
