  1. All the CZ's are available in 16" or 22" barrel length. Phone Edgar Brother's (the importer) 01625 613177 and ask to speak to Paul. He can answer any question you put to him.
  2. Pelt man "Just set it up how you want it then leave it alone" Yeah but I thought with parallax adjustment you had to dial in for a clear picture at various ranges, but with a fixed mag it is set to be clear at all ranges.
  3. What if you dip it in salt? Formalderhyde I beleive is poisinous.
  4. I am in the same boat as DAZZA, and looking for a scope for a .22 rimmy. On a recent thread one member suggested that a fixed magnification is better especially for lamping, as messing about with a AO parallax is a nuisance, (I have a HAWKE with AO on an FAC air rifle and do find it fiddly especially at night), and am leaning towards a fixed magnification. Any member use a fixed scope as listed below? http://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/proddetai...1244&cat=84 http://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/proddetai...1250&cat=84 PS - I agree the Whitetail Classic recommended is a great scope, but has an AO. Do they do it in fixed magnification?
  5. And they reckon the WELSH still live in caves Must try and get over to Cork some time
  6. Does anyone know killer rabbit (r1000) ? I sent him a pm on the 6th but he hasn't been on here since 2nd and has not replied.
  7. Take a good man to shoot that in a 12g, or a dull one
  8. I got a Lanber 28" and a Beretta 30", I use both from the hide and when out just for a stroll, I don't clay shoot or wildfowl. What suits me is - if in the hide or walking and it's very windy and the gun needs to be moved fast (or for bolting rabbits) I pick the Lanber with cyl and 1/4 choke, if a less windy day I'll pick the Beretta with 1/4 and 3/4 and take longer shots. The 30" barrel to me whether phsycological or not gives me confidence, I've stoned birds dead in the air at ranges I would not attempt with a 28" barrel. If I were to buy another shotgun it would definetely be another 30". The Beretta is heavier (about 8lbs), but I purposely wanted this to help combat recoil.

    Tuning AA s200

I posted the piece below as a PM to another member, but he hasn't been on line for a couple of days. Can another member help out? "I found an old post of yours offering advice on tuning an AA s200. Would you be able to advise me how to do it? I have an AA s410 extra on FAC so am not interested in bumping the 200 up over legal limit. When I bought the 200 .22, new (under a year ago), it was pushing out 10.5 ft/lbs with AA field. However the power has dropped to 9.61 ft/lbs with AA field (weight entered on chrono as 16.2g), 9.5 (14.2g) with RWS super H point and 10.1 (20.5g)with Bisley magnum. I would like to take it to 11.5 ft/lbs with AA field. ALSO - do you think that using 5.51 or 5.52 pellets makes any difference to accuracy, power or anything in any AA rifles? or is one as good as the other, I've tried both but cannot decide. Thanks in advance for any reply."
  10. Hygeine wise they are supposed to be the best, but as mentioned stainless is hard to sharpen. I use Opinel No 9, carbon blade easy to sharpen and left open all the time cause it's stuck, a bone cutting "scissors" type of thing, and a kitchen scissors (Boots chemist kitchenware own brand) which is very strong. With these 3 items, any gutting/cleaning of rabbit or bird can be done easily. EDIT - I don't shoot deer, but have read the forestry commission use the frost on deer.
  11. Keep a copy of the photo for when he's older and I'll bet he'll remember the day. My boys can remember fishing trips from when they were young. My oldest boy had his first SGC when he was 12 1/2 years old. He was really keen then and just the right size to chuck between a hawthorn hedge and sheep fencing to to retrieve runaway ferrets . Great photo to reflect on in later years .
  12. Thought the Roman's drove all the English out into Wales :o They might have but we sent them all back, but saying that there is a couple of places down here they call "Englishman's Row".
  13. The glorious WELSH flag. It's sooooooo good being WELSH.
  14. The brush you are thinking of is a "chamber brush". A turk's head is made out of steel wire and can I am told do more damage than good. If you use young's 303 (as I do), a shop owner told me to be sure it does not get into the workings eg the ejectors, as it can congeal and cause problems. It is a cleaner and not an oil.

    Vacuum flasks

I got an "unbreakable" stainless one, dropped it and broke the plastic cup inside the lid Just got another one for £3 from instore/poundstretcher, the little ones hold just enough water to fill two pot noodles Never had a problem with cheap ones losing heat.
  16. What do you expect he`s Welsh So am I I think i maybe out numbered here So here is a joke Q: What is the biggest problem with ******** a sheep? A: You have to keep on stopping to go around the front to kiss it What you do is get her to bring a mate along, obviously you have never had a threesome. Another tip, always do it on the edge of a cliff, they push back rather than fall. Don,t knock what you haven't tried.
  17. If you do go pneumatic over a spring or gas ram, an AA s200 would fit the bill perfect, and in .22 I would say if rats are on the list. But if it is going to get used very little a basic springer perhaps is best, as you do not need all the filling equipment necesarry for a pneumatic. But saying all that, a pneumatic is much easier to shoot and the fun factor of an air rifle will have you reaching for it more than you think.

    Tyre shooting

Find it hard to believe that a projectile would penetrate an inflated object being made of rubber especially if moving at high speed. I am not going to try it just curious.
  19. Went for a walk through a small woods at first light (hoping for a squirrel). In the soft mud was a freshly made pawprint. Smallish in size, with 4 nail prints in front, then a single pad then 2 smaller pads at the rear. I've been looking for identification but can't find any footprints for weasel or stoat. It's not squirrel or mink or rat. There was a fresh pheasant print next to it. Any one got a website for mammal footprints? I can't seem to find any.

    Tyre shooting

Will a shotgun (or rifle) really take out a tyre like they do in the films, especially if it's moving.? Made of rubber and inflated, I don't think I would stand in front of one to try.
  21. One thing to watch is that you kill it right away, jackdaws can be noisy if wounded and that would bring attention. There are far too many jackdaws about - good shooting if you go for it.
  22. I tend to nickname them "Percy" PS - nothing wrong with the Welsh
  23. I joined the gang and been out to buy one. Haven't tried it yet. Whoever started this topic (Crocket I think), should print this thread out and send it to LIDL head office, could be a years free groceries for him. One thing I would like to know is having never used NV, if I am viewing next to a road with street lights would the lighting enhance the picture, or are they only supposed to be used in relative darkness, ie starlight?
  24. I'm talking about on foot, with a small bag over the shoulder for the 7amp battery for a scope mounted light, carrying and shooting a FAC s410.
  25. Went out about a fortnight ago and took 4 rabbits from the same field. I left them where they fell to pick up later, the last 3 I found straight away, but the first I had to look for. Does anyone use markers to locate shot rabbits? I was thinking of cutting the jackets like they wear on building sites etc., taping some strips to small sticks so when I have finished a particular field I can see them with the lamp.
