  1. I'd also advise spending your money on a better quality second hand gun ,rather than a budget price new one. You will get more for your money, "Bye cheap Bye twice", is a saying that I belive to be true when it comes to buying guns. All the best Mick.
  2. Well done ! to both you and the dog
  3. post removed for personal reasons
  4. I had Two,but the one on my skeet vest fell off , it would be better if they had the saftey pin type of fastner, more secure, and you can fix them to a cap without a stud sticking in your head. jmho all the best mick.
  5. Here is my First attempt, the handle is made from an off cut of a door sill, and a piece of brass bar which I got out of a large elecrict box, This is the second, with a handel made from Yew and Beech with an Aluminium bolster, all of which I had kicking around in the shed. sorry about the quality of the pics, all the best Mick
  6. one of if not the Best Semis out ,I've put thousands through mine and NEVER had a jam! Thats a good price if it is as you describe, and yes it will cope very well with any kinds of shooting. Gordon,if your mates jams as you say,why dosnt he take it into the gunshop and get it fixed?as it must have something wrong with it,to keep doing this, I saw Three being used last week at the lincs Police shoot, and there is no way a serious clay shooter would use a gun that is likely to jam. All the best Mick.
  7. Nice one mate, I,ve just had ago at knife making myself,I only bought the blades though,(to tight to pay for the full kit) just finished two sheaths off tonight,i'll get a pic up of them once they are dry. All the best Mick.
  8. I've got a winchester 1200 ,I bought it second hand for £150 about two months ago,and its soooo much fun to use! and I havent had a bit of bother with it(put about 1000 carts through it) since i've had it ,the Berreta and Miroku have stayed in the locker . it,s a multi choke ,but I only have a half choke tube for it, best score I've had with it is 66x75 on Sporting ,and that was the best score put in all week! I've not shot a straight round of Skeet with it,but have had a few 24s and have not shot under 22. I just love taking it round the clay ground ,and seeing peoples reactions when i pull it out the slip! most cant resist asking for a go on it,and i'm more than pleased to let them try it I'm shooting a 100 bird open this weekend and i'll be using the Pump, ok I know I wont win it,but I would'nt win it with any of my other guns, I can tell you this though,I wont be last ,and I will be having fun ,and thats what we shoot for is'nt it ? TO ENJOY OURSELFS Get a pump action Pin ,they are bl---y good fun!!!!!!!! All the best Mick.
  9. Hi Darren , how you doing? Whippet X Greyhounds are very nice dogs with speed to burn, as for whats a good X and whats not, well there isnt realy an answer to that mate, if you ask would so and so a cross be good for this job, that would be a lot easier to answer. The best advice I can offer is to say, look at what you want to do with your lurcher,eg Ferreting, lamping rabbits ,or pre ban, coursing hares, ect Then try to find someone who uses lurchers for the same sort of work as you are going to be doing,in your area,or on similar type of ground, if you can have a look at there dogs working, and if they do the job well, go for a dog of that kind of breeding. To be quiet honest most Lurchers what ever cross they are, given the right training and plenty of opportunity, will do most kinds of lurcher work ,it is only when you want to take lurcher work to its extreme ,and realy specialise do,s one particular cross become better than an other, also what kind of land you are running on,eg big fen land ,small fields . I'll Pm you a link to a site that will be of help to you , any other questions just ask,i'm not an expert by any means, but have grown up with whippets and lurchers, and have lived with them and worked them all my life, and have been fortunate to have walked out with quiet a few very good dog men,and seen many dogs of different types work. All the best Mick. PS how you getting on with that Hushpower?
  10. I'm very sorry to hear this very sad news ,he will be sadly missed by many. My condolences to his family and friends. Mick.
  11. Yep seen them and shot them! but most have a barrel that is half an inch to short for a SGC and I wouldnt use one on rabbits! I have a 9mm myself, which I still wouldnt use on Rabbits, but for moving rats in places where you cant use a 410 its brilliant! cartridges are pricey but its not a gun I use very much ,so a box can last years, they are a gun of limited use BUT in certain circumstances, they can do the job that other guns cant. All the best Mick
  12. photobucket for me easy to use ,and resize photos on.
  13. Good news ! I have sorted it,half an hour on the kithen table (while her in doors was out) ,just basic tools and a bit of common sense , Thanks again Graham M ,that diagram did help All the best Mick.
  14. I dont think rain makes a lot of difference to the rabbits flash , but I personaly don't like ferreting in strong wind,as I find rabbits dont bolt so well , it would be interesting to know if others find the same thing. That was a good haul Nevb , and i'd be interested to hear more on your therory of time making a difference, I,ve never realy found any difference myself, but I always like to start early and finish well before it starts to get dark, All the best Mick.
  15. Thanks Graham, at least now I know what to call the bit that has fallen off I think it will be going to the gunsmiths by the look of things
  16. Does anyone know if there is a manual available for a winchester 120 P/A ,and if there is where I could get one from ? Many thanks Mick.
  17. Viewing from midday Section 1 comprises fishing tackle items selling starts 4.15 prompt section 2 comprises general items eg Books Paintings guns ect selling starts 4.45 It is possible that for a short while both auctioneers will be selling at the same time. Taken from details supplied by Collings the auctioneers. Hope this helps ,all the best Mick.

  19. I agree with that method for young ferrets JJ ,and use it myself, but it could be painfull for the handler,if tryed on a large full grown hob! All the best Mick.
  20. looking forward to seeing you all if you need help with the B+B LG let me know and i'll do what I can. All the best Mick.
  21. if you need help with a b+b LG just ask and i'll help as much as i can, I'm in Spalding ,Lincs ,about 20 miles from Kings Lynn. Arnold I think the auction starts about 4.30 although the guns get sold last which is usualy late, say around 9.30, but you need to get there before the auction starts, to have a good look at the guns ,as i've seen guns there which look ok from a distance, but have such bad problems that they are unsafe to shoot, All the best Mick.
  22. I hope to be going ,its not far from me and i've been quiet a few times before, I dont usually work fridays ,and as long as i'm not working that one ,i'll be going! are you staying over LG ? or going home that night? if you are staying over,i'd be pleased to take you to my local clay ground on the saturday,to have some fun and try out any guns we may buy, and if Lawrence would like to shoot some clays you would also be very welcome. All the best Mick.
