  1. Hey if it works for you Ferretboy111 carry on I've only had ferrets for 30+ years and so my knowledge is only very basic by the way I clip my ferrets nails and check there teeth and find holding them gently is all I need to do,why do you have to scruff yours and if its such a common practice why do non of the other ferreters I know do it? I've hand tamed many ferrets over the years and NEVER have and NEVER would scruff, shake,or hit a ferret on the nose its not necessary and to my mind would be very counter productive, unless you want to produce a ferret that sculks and dodges back to ground when you try to pick it up when working! Just my oppinion all the best Mick.
  2. How old is the Ferret? I assume it is full grown ,if it is stop scruffing it! It is not a dog and will not learn like a dog! All you will do by causing it discomfort is to teach it your hands are things to be avoided, and if it cant avoid them, it will bite them because its the only defence it has. The only way to tame a adult ferret is lots of gentle handling and lots of time , you wont be able to do this overnight,or even over a month, although you should see a big improvment in this time if you spend plenty of time with it each and every day, keep picking it up and stroking it , never snatch it up ! you must pick it up with confidene ,and not dart your hand in and out looking to avoid a bite. All ferrets are different, some come aroud quicker than others, with constant gentle handling, you may have a very tame and trustworthy Ferret in a month, however it could take 3 months if it is older . once it is starting to accept the handling, you could then offer it some milk in the palm of your hand, just to help it think your hands are a good place to be(this is the only time I would give a ferret Milk) All the best with it Mick.
  3. Nothing beats a Real Ale,but tonight I thought id have a few cocktails ! SO SNAKEBITE IT IS ALL THE BESHT MICK!
  4. Sorry if its been coverd and i have missed it ,but what is the order of the day? as in what will you be shooting?,sporting skeet,? how many clays,is it a comp or just fun and what will be the cost? I'd like to come and meet some people,it depends on cost realy. once again sorry if this has already been coverd. All the best Mick.
  5. "Shooting pigeons on the vast fields of rape Fenlander?" I wish Mostly clays ,i'm in a syndicate (walk and stand, nowt posh!) I do a bit of pigeon shooting, rough shooting ect. All the best Mick.
  6. Hi CT, it sounds a good gun for a youth to start out with, but for that money you could get a second hand Beretta semi,or other, eg, Remi ,it would maybe have to be a 12 bore ,but that wouldnt make much difference, apart from cheaper cartridges, although I should think if you look around, you could find a 20 fairly easy,if thats the way tou want to go. I'm thinking about what the Escort would be worth once your lad out grows it,and the limeted number of people that would be looking to buy such a gun, If you got a full size gun and had the stock shortend, and kept the off cut,you would'nt have to change his gun in a year or two, just stick the off cut back on. Just my thoughts , All the best Mick.
  7. Cracking gun mate, I got mine a year ago,and still love as much as I did then! I put at least a hundred through it every week, and have not had a single problem. All the best Mick.
  8. I'm not sure if they will fit a benelli , but others may know. These chokes are'nt mine,i've put them on for a mate,so if anyone is interested,I'll let you have his phone number by PM. All the best Mick.
  9. Rhino chokes,to fit Beretta 686 ect, extended and ported, quarter and half,£25 each Thats half what they cost new.
  10. Brilliant gun ,and very cheap at that price. have a bump on me
  11. Just a quick question about your original post Tiercel ! How do you know it was a "**** with a locator" that dug those holes?? Could it not have been some **** with a liner Ferret trying to recover one rabbit? as you dig more holes with a liner, than you do with a locator! do you not? All the best Mick.
  12. I,ve done time on the line, many years ago,and can remember watching those knots run through my fingers and praying they would soon stop, THANK GOD THEM DAYS ARE GONE! There are some easy shallow places I'd be happy to work a ferret without a collar but there are some that I would never do, only yesterday I ferreted a large warren that is on a piece of land that a glasshouse used to stand on,this is coverd in all sorts of rubbish, and there are brickwalls sticking out of the ground, from what i assume was the boilerhouse! now there could have been ,and probably are some chambers that a ferret could fall into and not be able to get out of, now if my ferret had dropped down into one how would I find it ? if no rabbit was with it another ferret would'nt go to it and stay long enough to be located! As it happens all was well and I took five rabbits from it without a dig, although last year when I did this warren,I did have a dig,and the rubbish that i had to go through I have worked some very bad places over the years, but have never lost a ferret, and can think of TWO occasions were if my ferret had not had a collar on ,I would have lost it because it was trapped, Also many times I've located a ferret and not dug while the ferret was to ground, but marked the spot, and dug, once all other rabbits have bolted ,and the ferrets been lifted, and recoverd dead rabbits that were perfectly edible but would have been lost if not for the locator. Well each to his own ,if people want to work ferrets without a locator, good luck to you, But as far as i'm concerned locators save lives, give you piece of mind ,put more rabbits in the bag ,and make for a more enjoyable ,and efficient days Ferreting. All the best to Mick.
  13. Yep it worked for me on a stock that got hit by a bit of clay,it was quiet a deep dent and the suface of the wood had a small split in it,(i'd heard it only works if the wood is'nt split) I used kitchen towel, and and the tip of the mrs iron,(keep the towel wet) it took quiet a few goes ,and because the wood had cracked I could still see were it had been dented, but it realy did improve it a lot. All the best Mick.
  14. I shoot them all the time at clays through my Teknys, and get very good results ,they are cheap, but I am very often top gun in the group I shoot with, and a few weeks ago put up the best score of the week at the shooting ground. However when I was using an over and under sporter ,the recoil was to much after a few weeks,to the point they got me flinching as I pulled the trigger, and this is the only cartridge I have had this with, If you can shoot them with out a problem, stick with them ,you can pay a lot more and get no better scores, if its just practice and for fun, why pay more than you have to? All the best Mick.
  15. Thanks for the info chaps. All the best Mick.
  16. They are a gun for close shooting,I use mine out to about 10 Meters, and it KILLS clean ,no kicking or break dancing,THEY JUST STOP ! The Best thing to do is pattern yours ,and see how it go's ,every gun is different. They are a gun with a very limeted use ,but no other gun can do the job they do , so effectivley, They are a brilliant tool !!! and i can't understand why they are so rare, All the best Mick.
  17. I was shooting today and some how managed to put my lead into the piece of sky a partridge was flying into, and then I did it again, ?? well come the end of the day ,when the bag was being split up ,I thought i'd have them , Now I've had many Pheasants before but never a Partridge, So I was hoping someone could tell me the best way to cook them, and for how long? I'm not looking for any complicated recipies,as if I start issuing Mrs Fenlander with a lot of do! this ,then do this! ,type of instructions, she will tell me to do it my *****y self so I was thinking of roasting them ,is this ok? and if it is ,for how long? (this is the important bit because she does tend to over do the Pheaseants and make them dry) Many thanks Mick.

I used to love Landrovers! until I bought one If going up a slight hill,by the time I changed from 2nd gear into 3rd,id be going so slow i'd need to be back in 2nd The bloody thing was permently steamed up, as the heater wouldnt blow a match out it was like sitting in a cave ,it was so damp in it The only good thing about it was, it was so bloody noisey ,I could'nt hear the wife moaning at me for looking in fields instead of at the road
  19. I've had a Tekneys for about a year now ,I put a least a hundred cartridges through it every week, and it has never refused one yet! I've had loads of guns over the years including Miroku, Browning 525, Berreta 687 , and the Tekneys is the best gun I've ever owned, the patterns it throws are outstanding, No dought I will buy other guns in the future, but I can't see me ever letting the Tekneys go. Its just a shame I cant use it on syndicate days at the driven birds,as I know I would hit more than I do with my o/u Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine. All the best Mick.
