  2. look at the Leupold 6x42 FX 3 Fixed Power for your .22
  3. me and the dog after a successful morning decoying geese.
  4. i did try a box of the high velocity solids and they seemed to group fine, i have no complaints. my dealer has started stocking them too and they are cheaper than the winchesters.
  5. if you havn't already, contact the BASC.

i really like the prologic clothing, i have the salopettes and the thermo armour pro jacket and think a lot of it. got mine after keeping an eye going on ebay.
  8. one word, brilliant. my shooting buddy bought one and it certainly pulls in the ducks. we have used it to great success in stubble and on water. :good:
  9. i bought 500 winchester subs about a month ago and they were stiff to extract, when i looked closely they were waxy with the hollow point full of wax.
  10. i give it a spray with gun oil as soon as i strip the gun and clean that bit last with wire wool, leaving it seems to soften it up a bit.
  11. i have had bushnell, simmons, richter optics, niko sterling, schmidt and bender and leupold, and the best scope out of that lot imo is the leupold. the schmidt and bender was great but expensive. i have the vx-1 3-9x40 on my 30-06 and a vx-1 4-12x40 on my 223 and i am keeping my eye going for a fixed power leupold fx-11 6x36 for my .22 to replace the bushnell thats on it just now. as dekers said earlier, scopes are about as personal as it gets in shooting and this is just my opinion on scopes.
  12. i have had two rusty old guns that were used for wildfowling and i had them both shotblasted and powder coated and never had problems with rust again .
  13. i checked and it wasnt that, i have a feeling it was sand/grit in the pipe where the cup goes down on a spring (if that makes sense).
  14. i own an sx3 field and it has been back to winchester 3 times. one of the times it was the piston spring had broken and they replaced the piston the other 2 times was the bolt wouldn't pull back after it had been fired, i sent it away and it came back fixed both times but i still dont know what was wrong or what they had to do to fix it  . having said that i would still have another one. i think they are great guns, very light but low on the recoil. i wildfowl with mine and it gets some pretty rough treatment what with the weather, salt spray and dogs climbing over it etc, but if i keep it clean it always cycles.
  15. my mate has the diamond model, i have used it a few times and i have to say i think its a great value for money gun, well finished and it seemed to be balanced well for me. if it fits go for it, no point in having a £6000 perazzi, for example, if it dont fit. just my humble opinion.
  16. thanks for the input guys, might put in for a variation shortly. i will keep you posted.
  17. doesnt get me a new rifle though
  18. it was only a thought that came to me the other night when i was out lamping, it was blowing fairly strong winds so i took my .223 over the .22lr and it seemed a bit much as the rabbits were no further away than 70 yards, but i would have been struggling with the .22 due to the wind and i thought that a hornet would be ideal. maybe i should stop thinking . i would just like another rifle.
  19. i bought a mint second hand browning gti plus for £800. i love it, fits me well and could carry it round all day. having previously owned a beretta 682 i wouldn't go back to beretta. just my humble opinion.
  20. has anyone on here ever tried the barnes varmint grenade through there .22 hornet? just trying to think of a good rabbit round for use with the lamp that doesnt ricochet.
  21. i cant seem to get a message through to you!
  22. 52gr a-max driven by h4198 works well in my a-bolt, cant say about foxes because we dont have any but rabbits dont like them!!! plus i can get them through the post.
