Thanks for all the advice lads,in my 27yrs of working life i have never been in a position like this so it's a bit scary.I'm going for a meeting with my mate later this week to find out all the details :unsure:

Last year i was made redundant,i worked on a farm for harvest when that finished i worked for a gamedealer.Over the next week or so i will finish there.A mate has offered me a job with him,he is a tree surgeon.I have got to go self employed,i don't know how to go about this so any advice would be appreciated.What are the positive and negative sides of being self employed

I would rather it was picked up,will try and find out how much it will be to post

Traztaz,when you come face to face with a sow that has been shot with a captive bolt gun and not been hit correctly you know how a stressed animal reacts.Like you said in your post 'just know what you are doing'.If the person was trained or knew what he was doing this wouldnt be a problem.

I would pay good money to watch someone try and kill a deer by straddling it and cutting it's throat.The animal would be highly stressed and fighting for survival.I've been a slaughterman for 22yrs and the way some people describe the ways they would kill a animal is fantasy.

As a trained slaughterman for 22 years yes you can hit in on the head,But it's knowing where to hit it.This will not kill it it will knock it unconcious so you can then cut it's throat.All this about going through the ribs sounds like rambo.Yes it can be done IF you know what you are doing.The best way if you are not trained is if you can get close enough to shoot it with a shot gun then shoot it

The same thing happened in a village near me,on the suffolk cambs border.They got away with cabinet and guns.Another incident they got disturbed and done a runner leaving guns on the kitchen table

Pigeons 35p rabbits clean kill/rifle £1 venison £1.80kg neck shot If any body want to know more pm me and i will give details we are on essex cambs border

With the rabbits just gut them as long as they are kept cool the next day would be fine

They are 30p fresh,not sure about frozen.If there was enough the boss might collect be worth a phone call to ask

I work for my local game dealer we are desperate for pigeons we are paying 30p a bird.If anyone is interested we are near saffron walden essex.Also rabbits clean kill or rifle shot £1 each.If anyone needs anymore info pm me thanks

There not they are 31 10.5 x15 so looks like ive got to get a new set of boots for it

I'm well pleased,at the moment i have got a frontera swb with a 2inch lift and bfg mt's.It has sprung a bad oil leak so has got to go not worth spending more on it.I know a lot of people slate them but if the l200 goes in half the places i have been i will be pleased.A mate just rung and said he would give me £200 for it and use it as a shooting wagon so got to go out and muck it out now(god knows what i will find )

Thanks for all the replies,i went and looked at a 51 reg last night and pick it up thursday.Took it for a drive seemed to go ok it has never seen mud got service history with it got it for £3350 well pleased

I'm looking at changing my truck,i fancied a l200.A lot of people have told me that they have trouble with the engines and gear boxes.The toyota hilux holds it money and with the money i have got £4-£4500 i would get a newer l200.Also looked at a ranger.Any advice would be greatly appriciated

Sorry to hear about your wife,i'm in the same boat got laid off after 22yrs thought i was safe like being hit by a bolt of lightning when you get told heres your envelope clear your locker and leave.I went down the job centre as much good as a chocolate tea pot.I've got a job in june till nov on a farm don't know what i will do after that.Might go to poland there must be something over there because most of them are over here working(taking our jobs,housing,benifits)

I have a feeling my local is fobbing me of,he normaly does remmington but my cz hates them.I will go ask him in morn if he has them coming in this week if not will go to another supply.

My local gunshop has been trying to get hold of winchester .22 subs for at least 6 weeks now(or so he says).He tells me that because america havnt sent the correct paperwork to australia where they are made and that there isnt any being manufactured.I'm pretty sure he is fobbing me off has anyone else heard anything like this

Thanks for all the positive replies lads,today went as well as could be expected.We all done our job to our best ability and walked out with our heads up.I'm going to contact a small local slaughterhouse again explain my situation and see if they need cover for holidays etc until i start on the farm.

Perfect,that is what ruined us the agency(poles,hungarians,lithuanians etc) all our work is being taken up to malton they are full of cheap labour

I'm more worried than the wife,she says have a couple of months shooting fishing.Its just ive never been out of work.The job i have lined up is on a farm until nov i was keeper on there till the shoot folded.I'm hoping to go with contracters lifting sugar beet when that finishes.At least i won't have to get up at 4am for a while
