Only problem with recoil pads is what you use the gun for. DTL - no problem. If you shoot Sporting - gun down - many recoil pads snag on your clothing. One company does a decent recoil pad with a plastic insert at the top, so the gun doesn't snag.

Other than the barrel, what else do you lubracate/clean?
Gordon R replied to jweaver's topic in Guns & Equipment
I wipe the outside of the gun with a rag soaked in WD40. I also grease the knuckle joints / end of forend iron, edges of ejector kickers and forend catch (on the barrel). -
Use 3 notches top barrel and 4 in bottom. Hit anything at clays.
-
If you use 7s, 7 1/2s or 8s for all clays, you won't go far wrong.

Advice needed - shotgun cert - urgent
Gordon R replied to Gordon R's topic in General Shooting Matters
Son has not been back to me, so it seems sorted. I know nothing about the gun. I have given my advice - down to them. -
Just had a phone call from one of my sons. Relative of his partner is moving house. In process of clearing out the loft, he came accross a shotgun - been there 25 years, from when he last held a certificate. My own advice is to hand it in urgently at a Police Station, before it gets worse. I recollect a similar thread some months ago - if someone could direct me to it.

For Skeet - use Cylinder in bottom barrel and Skeet in top. For game or Sporting Clays - 1/4 in bottom barrel and 1/2 in top. Keep selector to the right so it fires bottom barrel first.

SX or XS? Barrel length? Chokes? Photos?

Browning. The poll is a little limited - doesn't include Browning

Two thin screwdrivers or similar. Push into the hole about one inch and push outwards - torwards the side of the car and pull.

Tweedledee - very sorry about your loss. I have had four GSDs and taking them to the vets, when the time came, was truly awful. I knew what I had to do, but didn't want to do it. Good looking dog - commiserations. When I lost GSD number 4, I went over to Akitas - I just couldn't face another GSD. I was lucky - I had 4 GSDs who were brilliant. I could not have asked for more. All different characters. Loyal, fearless and bright.

http://www.thegun-cupboard.co.uk/acatalog/index.html Bought one from here about 18 months ago. Same as Miroku mechanism. About £40 plus postage from memory.

Cartridge Price List - Suffolk
Gordon R replied to Whitebridges's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
Look cheap to me for the North, unless someone knows where they can be bought cheaper. -
Brilliant performance from the best. Did not get hit by a punch, which put him down, but a forearm to the nose.
-
I had a diesel Frontera - LWB. 40MPG - far better on road than Disco and excellent off road. Just about the cheapest vehicle I have ever run - just bought number 93 yesterday.

I hope Hamilton wins because he is better and British.
-
Shooters who have these tend to get them sprayed adding yet more cost to £1k. Still look vastly overpriced.
-
Fawlty Towers - Classic. I like Jonathan Ross, but he is limited. Russell Brand - if he is funny, I will plait sawdust. Looks like a pantomime dame. Short in the talent and brain department. Looks like a potential village idiot to me.

Superbly done.

Someone say something to upset you?

These are used mainly by DTL shhoters. About £1000. Main bits look solid enough, but the actual cheekpiece looks flimsy and cheap. Overpriced and a bit gimmicky.

I have actually seen the gun in question. A tidy bit of kit at a bargain price - from a top bloke.

Markio - thanks for the offer, but I am sorted. My son uses the adjustable comb Miroku - which crept downwards the last time he used it. It now has a fibre tap washer to keep it in place. My XT has a stock from a 525, which fits perfectly after Mr Sander paid a visit. The one I use mainly is a Trap model Caesar Guerini, which fits straight out of the box.
