I either crown mine in the field or breast them out at home in the Kitchen. I never let them hang and I like my meat fresh. In fact, when I take my portable stove and some marinade, I will sometimes cook and eat some within minutes of shooting them. It might be the fresh air, but marinaded pigeon breast fried for a couple of minutes each side and allowed to rest for another couple, thinly sliced and still pink in the middle taste divine in a fresh crusty roll with cucumber and mayonaise.

Went shooting without the youngest. The peace was deafening :blink:

I once was propped up against an oak and heard an angry chattering from above. A male squirrel was coming down the trunk from above, I turned and had to lie down and shoot almost straight up (air rifle). The booger almost landed on my face! That was about 10 years ago now but this thread reminded me and makes me remember it like it was last week. Regards Z.

Dekers - horse poop specialist. Do grow up! If the stone is travelling fast enough, it will penetrate. That is more to do with velocity than penetration. If you shoot a bunny in the cranium accurately with a dome head, hollow point, pointed or wadcutter, it dies immediately, numb nutts.

If you hit the cranium (brain case), penetration levels make no odds. You need consistent accuracy to hit the brain box.
