  1. Yeah, 7 days for me too. It depends on your Constabulary. If you call them you can usually get it hurried up.
  2. Personally I'd suggest .223 but that's another thread in itself! You don't need to complete any reference forms for starters. Get your hands on a Firearms Certificate application form from your local Police station, or here: http://www.basc.org.uk/download.cfm/docid/302AE27C-C212-4AE7-9B6A83373E015186 Advice/guidance also on the BASC website here: http://www.basc.org.uk/en/departments/firearms/certificate-forms-and-fees.cfm Ammo quantity is up to you and usually a chat with your local firearms liason officer should provide the answer. Don't loose the slot for .17HMR now you've got it, you never know, you might want one for a specific reason in the future. Greg.
  3. Of course. They're useful as a guide to select a zero and get an idea etc but there's so many factors involved that each rifle will be slightly if not largely different. Greg.
  4. That's the Nosler ballistics app on iPhone, I just took a screen shot of it. That's working on the ballistic coefficient and muzzle velocity of Hornady 17grn V-Max. That profile is saved for my rifle which is why it has a setting of 2" for scope height. Greg.
  5. 125 yard zero data with a scope height of 2":
  6. Thanks for sharing your efforts NV foxer and congratulations on what was clearly a superbly judged and executed shot. If the kit is up to the job then it's all down to ability (and a bit of luck sometimes) at the end of the day. Anyone can sit there (especially behind their keyboards with their gimp masks still on from their latest visit to JimmySaville'swonderland.com) and throw up reasons all day as to why you couldn't/shouldn't/wouldn't but they're the ones that will be sitting there one day saying could have/should have/would have about their own experiences. I'm a big believer in integrity and if what you say is true then ****ing good effort! Greg. P.S. Bring it on.
  7. Zero at 50 yds will give zero at 100 yds give or take a nats cockhair. Greg.
  8. Shot plenty of foxes with .22LR. He takes too long on the second shot as his priority is the camera when it should have been the fox. 35 yds is perfectly adequate but shot placement should be exact. Greg.
  9. A fox won't call for a number of reasons, the main ones being - if it's heard it before - if it's suspicious - if it's not hungry - if it knows what it wants and prefers the thought of killing something of preference I've experienced all these reasons and more. Like Kent says, find a spot where you know it'll be and ambush it. If there isn't a spot already, create one by baiting up for a good few days before hand, let it become comfortable in the area. You then have no need to risk making any sound as you lie in wait. Greg.
  10. Nowt wrong with the build quality of my Roedale! The suppression I get is absolutely spot on, maybe not the quietest but not far from it and definately not the loudest and at 200g with 6 baffles it's spot on for me.
  11. Devon & Donuts, I mean Cormwall have a 6 guns or more policy for alarms. It has to be on the cabinet or on the cupboard/room that the cabinet is in. They don't kick the a*se out of it and were perfectly happy with the £16 shed alarm from B&Q that I fitted.
  12. Federals. I've got the same rifle with the same twist and it loves the stuff. I use both 40 grn and 55 grn with no difference in accuracy. Greg.

  15. Head lower on the rib so you can't see the top of it, you just see the bead on the end. Not to insult your intelligence though.
  16. If its just shooting you won't go wrong with a set of remoulds. http://tyresdirectuk.co.uk/shop/index.php?catname=Malatesta-Kaiman-Tyres&id=271
  17. I've got a standard 527 in .223 and its superb. I bought it second hand and I don't mind knocking it around a bit which in my eyes is what's to be expected in a proper foxing rifle whilst out on foot climbing over gates etc. The trigger pull will be a lot lighter than 1.5-2lbs with the set trigger activated. Personally I find it too light for field use and it is possible to adjust the trigger for normal operation to a very light pull. It's superbly accurate and mine's a 1in12 twist so I'm limited to lighter rounds. I get on very well with 40grn Federal V-Max for the flat trajectory but it will shoot 55grn as accurately. Stock choice is down to your preference and whatever feels good in the users hands.
  18. I find its not so much about miles covered but time spent quietly looking around.
  19. Nice one Tim. What were you calling with?
  20. Just Googled it and it looks like you're correct. I thought pistol due to no rods but the AK family have a rod under the barrel. Greg.
