  1. Wide has her craft stall at party at the palace music festival in Linlithgow and its tipping down. Only another 5hrs til simple minds come on.
  2. It's not passed yet it's at the committee stage. The draft bill has been published and the ins and outs of it are being discussed. I also believe it's pointless and won't do anything to cut crime but it's a good way for hapless politicians to sound good.
  3. He was putting the rails on the roof for the target system. To me the end of the month may not happen but it won't be long after that.
  4. Was up at Morton Clay Targets at Livingston yesterday and their new 100yrd indoor full bore range is coming ever closer to being finished. This got me thinking about what I could (i.e need) to apply for to make proper use of the range. I already have an air rifle, fac air rifle and a slot for a .22lr for prone target shooting so was thinking of putting in for another .22lr to put a scope on shooting out to a bit longer range that the iron sight used in the 20 yrd prone and a centre fire for the full 100yrds. Don't know what it will be passed for but looking at the way it has been built it will be fine for some pretty large calibres. Looking for a bit of advise about what would be the best full bore calibre/gun to go for. It's mostly going to be for the challenge and not competition so one that doesn't have ammo that costs a fortune. I was thinking a .223 would be a good choice but any advise greatly received as I don't know a lot on the merits and problems of centre fire calibres out to 100yrds.
  5. It's second hand. I was told it was bought years ago fired a couple of pellets then was put back in the box and not touched for years so is as new condition. I think they stopped making them around 2005
  6. Spent half an hour or so today trying out my latest purchase a Webley Hurricane that has shot about 5 pellets and was an absolute bargain. The pistol is mint condition and the allen key is still taped into the box and comes with the plastic scope mount, I just could let this one go. This was the first time I had shot a pistol and god did I find it hard. Lots and Lots of practice required I think.
  7. No not with the chip and pin it did when it was just a signature you used but now takes pretty much any normal card either visa or MasterCard. It's linked up with santander business so it has a pretty big banking partner.
  8. Wife uses izettle for taking payments Its a card reader with chip and pin and it works great.

    Gate post

was told a General rule is put a 1/3 in the ground I.e 2ft below 4ft above for a 6 ft long post so depends on size of post. My gate post are about 600mm down for an 8ft gate for the same reason and there not moving at all.
  10. Guidelines are just that a guide on what to do they are not legally binding it's a suggestion of in this case what the government thinks is the correct way to do it. So if a force want to do it differently they can. Not suggesting we do nothing and don't agree with it. But think it will be a difficult argument as the public safety card will be played and as the vast majority of the public don't shoot they will take some convincing. But it's a discussion we have to have using proven evidence to win and not emotion.
  11. Wife collects Lego houses and kits from when we were kids so we have a room full of it. My 6 year old can't get enough of it and frequently can't see the carpet in his room for being covered in it. Probably the best toy there is and although fairly expensive you can't tell the difference between the new Lego bricks and the stuff that's 30 odd year old and well played with. How many other toys can you say that about.
  12. I use the cheap clever mirage clay cartridges and find them great. As said above the limiting factor is the one pulling the trigger. I think they are imported by continental shooting supplies in Dalry. Edit : #### predictive text.
  13. Sodium chlorate is now banned in all EU countries. You were only allowed to keep and use it up till May 2010 when it became illegal to use/keep. Bit of a pain as it was great for keeping the yard clear.
  14. Only for the cops in the ground they don't pay for all the extra cops who are outside to deal with the fans arriving, leaving and the traffic flow.
  15. Just been making some lunch looking out the kitchen window when I saw a stoat running across the yard and into the field next door in broad daylight. Now we had them a few years ago when we had a massive rabbit problem and they sorted that out so we left them alone and although we only ever saw them when it was dark they were interesting to watch. We now have chickens that run free range across the field during the day and are shut up at night to keep them safe so now wondering what the stoat and no doubt its family are feeding on or thinking of feeding on. The chickens are probably a bit big for it but never say never. Just another thing to keep an eye out for along with the foxes, rats, rabbits...
  16. I was told that as long as you can shut the door your fine. Was told by FEO that I could get more in if I put one barrel up then one barrel down.
  17. Problem is Salmond and his cronies not only want to have their cake and eat it they want to keep the bbc as well.
  18. This is just what we need up here in Scotland with the SNP determined to push airgun licensing through no matter how many people tell them its a bad idea and won't work. We already have sufficient laws to deal with the idiots that do this to animals without licencing airguns. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-26668081 The charity is quoted as saying "The new licensing regime should ensure that only those with a lawful reason are allowed to possess such a dangerous weapon. It will also help the police trace anyone using an air gun irresponsibly." Don't know how licencing an air gun is going to allow the police to trace the people using the gun irresponsibly, its not as if the ammunition has a number on it and can be traced. The idiots that do this sort of thing are not going to licence the guns anyway so it's a pointless exercise. But it will appeal to the non shooting public who will not understand this will do absolutely nothing to stop this happening but will all write to their local MSP demanding all guns are banned.

    Sky lanterns

Hate the things and should be banned. Seen a few around where I stay and people say I am a killjoy when I say its not a good idea to release them around here. They don't seem to realise 1. the fire risk when they come down and 2. the safety implications as we are directly under the flight path the planes taking off and landing at Edinburgh airport.
  20. Powerlink uses the powerlines and plugs in the house as a network.
  21. This is my gun and am only selling as I need the space in the cabinet and I don't get on with a SxS. I have been told by someone who does up guns that it won't take much to make it look better but I just don't have the time to do it.

    Bad night

Feel for you mate I had a similar experience at the beginning of the year when we got both sheds broken into and had tools stolen. There wasn't a lot taken but it cost me an entire day to repair the damage they caused then another day to sort everything out with the insurance company (who were very helpful).
  23. Not when i've been married for 15 years. She also has an eternity ring so not that either.
