    Bye!

That just about sums me and the mates up. LIFE IS GOOD
  5. 71/2s 28g are alot easier on your shoulder after a 100 bird day not that there is many of those days to be had at the moment. They are also cheaper to buy.
  6. Regularly shoot 28g 71/2's for pigeon in fact never shoot anything heavier for them. IMO 32g 6's are overkill for decoying pigeons. I did go to a days pheasant drive in Scotland earlier this year (Jan) and didn't realise untill after that me and my mate had packed the wrong shells 'Lyalvale Express World Cup 28g No. 8s' guess who got high gun. Pheasants where dead in the air no joke. P.S. I wouldn't shoot 28g 8s at pheasants out of choice.

    hard spell

Awe now that was a slip of the finger, typo error All in fun Eug, My spelling and grammer are nothing to be proud of, in fact the only reason I got my english language was for writing an essay on the life cycle of a salmon. There where 5 essay titles to pick from and one of them was THEN THE RAINS CAME. I was fishing mad at that age and knew more about the reproductive habits and lifecycle of a salmon that the human race. THAT SOON CHANGED :o
  10. Holy **** No. 4s and 5s 32gram for game. Majority ruling for 6's though.
  11. Red I know the answer would have done for now but then Aled would have said that. I don't think he will understand your explaination anyway :o (I did and thats correct)

Your good spelling is probably down to that old peoples pastime of crosswords Eugene. You don't expect us too believe you can remember back to your school days at your age.
  13. mystic meg machine Aled if you work this out i will believe your spelling score (not).
  14. Just a side note, I agree with all of the above but I don't think there is anything wrong with taking a novice into a hide with you and sharing a gun. That way you can point out safety whilst shooting in a hide and teach the art of decoying pigeons at the same time. To put two novices in two seperate hides in the same field over the same decoys is asking for trouble. Leaving a novice in a hide on his own in another field is also asking for troble. We often share hides when out (its more sociable) but take it in turns with the shots. Totally safe. Two guns shooting from one hide is a big NO NO Roost shooting on this occaison would definately sound the best option.

    Bye!

Good luck with the recovery Edited because I was ******.
  18. What a great shame the bird died. I take my hat off to you for the effort you put trying to save the bird. I cannot see you getting banned when 95% of people would agree with you. Cruelty to animals dosn't carry enough (any) punishment. Not every story can have a happy end but at least you tried your best.
  19. Guns don't make dogs gunshy people do (remind anyone of a song) Thats it in a nut shell. After my pup was used to doors banging, steel bowls clanging, garage doors slamming shut, cars, lorries, my honda CBR 600 reving it was time for the gun to come out. She was used to all noises before the gun came out and all the other noises she was introduced to gradually and with treats and praise. Took the gun into the back field with a mate and got him to go 150 yards and then I sat the dog in the field told him to fire a shot, BANG, dog biscuit/praise. 120 yards BANG, dog biscuit/praise. 100 yards BANG, dog biscuit/praise. etc etc etc down to about 10 yards then I threw a dummy BANG, praise and then retrieve. My pup showed no signs of stress and now when I lift the gun she get excited. Don't rush it.........Association NOISE = FUN/FOOD/PRAISE is the key.
  20. The rabbits are only shot once or twice a year as the island is used for wildfowling mostly. so the rabbits havn't really got a clue whats happening. We had 5 guns out that day split 3 and 2 and were only shooting for 4 hrs.
  21. We had 6 ferrets in total and we split up on the island to cover it better. The ferret in the pic has two of its mates underground, it just popped up for a break . I havn't done much rabbiting but on this particular day the rabbits did not bolt everytime and on occasions we had to go to a hole to release the rabbit from the ferret that had it by the ****.
  22. the 2 lads from kent where over with us. teal your thinking of the copeland islands. the island in the picture is one of the islands on strangford lough that our wildfowling club has the shooting rights for. my caps locks aren't workin on this dopey work computer.
