  1. Hi all you Kentish Men and Men of Kent, is anyone up for a days Ferretting nr. Ashford later in the year, I have a problem area which is bounded by a horse toll ride, I am nightshooting it but there are too many and they will need to be cleared wholesale.

Good opportunity for a youngster, I can pick up within reason and still have nets if you dont have enough.

PM me if you are interested.

    D2D

  2. Hi all, keep reading about decent bags elsewhere in the country but has anyone had any good days here in Kent?

My neck of the woods seems to be very s l o w and hardly worth getting the kit out for. All the wheat seems to be standing up well so no laid crop to attract them (thats one thing the crop circlers were good for)

  3. She is pregnant, he had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her by carrying her out of the house into her front yard, while he continued to fight the fire.

When he finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch his breath and rest.

A photographer from the Charlotte, North Carolina newspaper, noticed her in the distance looking at the fireman.

He saw her walking straight toward the fireman and wondered what she was going to do.

As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved her life and the lives of her babies and kissed him just as the photographer snapped this photograph.

Excellent, not seen it before, thanks.

    :good: D2D gone soft

  4. I am new to the whole shooting thing and I find this site a fantastic source of information and people willing to put themselves out to help you.

I can't add much in the wayt of technical contributions yet but I hope I can add to the banter every now and again and add a little something. I must say that PW does help to get me through the day sitting at my desk and if it wasn't there I'd have to work harder.

There must be lots of pigeons outside your office window :good::good:

  5. man you got a lot of crows over there|!!!! Great mornings sport!!!

I dont think the Irish crows can be the same as ours they seem to have alot of rooklike habits, you would be hard pushed to hoodwink our carrion crows so easily. We shoot large numbers of rooks at drilling time but crows require a different approach. ???

Excellent bag worth getting up early for. :good:

    My sincere apologies.

I did not know that it was a prerequisite to have a certain amount of posts, before one acquired a sense of humour. I will hold that in mind for future posts.

    Thank you ???

Dont take it to heart, after all I took your comment in the spirit...... you have to have a thick skin with this lot :good::oops:

You can make a perfectly innocent comment and get a smartypants answer, know what I mean.

    D2D

If you can't post pics are you sure you should be driving?

Ouch... :good: . thats not very nice and I asked for it :good: I probably could but being older than most have not got around to it.

PS only your 4th post and your extracting the urine already:rolleyes:

Would be better in green (well modern military brown)

am looking at getting one soon, next few weeks. struggling over the decision of a 300 or 200 tdi.

dunno what it is a bout that kind of blue, or black. but IMHO i reckon they look the muts nuts. and nato green looks good too. was pondering over a ex MOD one, but theyve all had the **** ragged out of them by the squaddies, and are mostly N/A engines.

    cheers

    flash

Go for the 300 rather than the 200tdi. Better engine and better performance. Avoid TD5's. 110's give more space inside but drink the diesel. 90's have less space but are a wee bit more economical.

110,s are not so nimble as the 90, I have been grounded in a lwb when a swb has gone up,n,over the obstacle... something to consider when buying if you are going to be doing any sort of ditches and roots offroad.

My present beastie is a green 300tdi swb hardtop with the roof painted in blackboard paint to stop the fore and aft spotlamps from reflecting on the previously white roof. :good: I fitted a removeable glass sunroof so that it is able to stand up in the back and shoot forwards or backwards with a spot mounted on the right on two roofbars, it looks the mutts and goes like poo off a shovel.

If some kind person could pm on how to post pics its worth seeing.

  9. I can't be bothered to check but I didn't think you could take game with a 3 shot?

My cert says specifically for the destruction of vermin ie no duck etc.

    D2D

From that we can assume that yours is not a 3shot but is on an FAC

Yes, I already owned it and a pump mossy when the Fac rules were tightened some years back,as I was keepering then I could justify them so they just included them on my existing cert, makes a fine pigeon hide gun and a real boon not to have to keep reloading so much when its freezing cold or standing in the back of a pickup. :good:

I am able to use them for clay shooting and its amusing to watch reactions when it becomes obvious I am not reloading!

  10. Hi all, if you recognized the company then read on, as you will know the company shut down and most of the workforce dispersed, if you are one of those and want to relocate to Kent (assisted) and do the same job again please PM me for further details.

This is a genuine job opportunity to join the company that possibly put Celestica out of business?

If you know of anyone who was working there it may be worth mentioning this to them.

I realise this is not shooting related but if it helps someone who is out of work then I reckon its ok to post?

  11. Legal to own at home. Only legal to have in public in limited circumstances.

    Hi OB

I have a .22 blank firing dog training pistol with a mag, how do I stand with that?

Not used it for years but am curious as to any regs that have come into being recently.

  12. i think all the talk of the snobbery of driven days is unfair and misguided. although i would not deny there is certainly an aspect of it amongst a few of the older more expensive shoots, on the whole the company of any days i go on is largely made up of farmers - and not the minted kind either (and there aren't many of them around these days!). dressing in tweed, shooting a sbs or o/u is as tied in with game shoots as the shooting itself. it is what makes the day special, i shoot primarily over decoys, and if i could buy another gun i would make it an auto, but the fact that there are traditions and etiquette which preside over driven days sets them apart as a different occassion and that is what i enjoy even when i might possibly get better sport over drilled beans in my hide!

Woodpigeon shooting has my vote over driven pheasants anyday, if you can consistently do well at pigeon you can shoot anything, imo theres nothing to beat a good days decoying.

  13. When broken they show that they are safe, they give the ability to chose the amount of choke required for a particular shot and they are quick to reload.

    Charlie

Almost all new semi auto's come with multi-chokes these days Charlie, so this statement is utter rubbish in my opinion and they can be shown to be 'safe as any gun can be, be it a broken shotgun or a rifle with the bolt back and as i said earlier, not so long ago O/U were seen to be breaking traditon on a game shoot and but are now more than excepted.

I am very traditional with my Game shooting - i wear a pair of breeks, shirt, tie and jacket to match whilst out on a formal driven day, but you will soon see semi-auto's on many game shoots if they start to become a popular as O/U's did back in the early 80's.

I too am a tradionalist when it comes to a driven day, its all part of the atmosphere. I think Charlie may be unaware that semis can be fitted with a C-LECT choke which I and many others have. It is possible to change the choke within seconds, with a simple twist of the wrist, if high flying pigeon for example appeard over the hide. Then revert back a more open choke as required.

With regard to safety the semi can be shown to be safe simply by inserting a rubber "Auto safe" into the chamber with the green flag showing.

  14. The whole entourage passed the end of my drive for about 2 hours as we all sat out on the verge and had a BBQ it was a real spectacle with countless French trade floats hooting and whistling, complete with the usual promotion girls ohh la la,ing all over everyone. It was worth seeing and the actual race flashed by in about 15 seconds.......... then that was it!

    :good: D2D

  15. went for a sit shot these only out 4 2 hours but as the topic title says d2d might tell you i dint shoot them ??????

I really dont care what you do but please no more rigged footage of your amazing 60yd shots, not that it was worth showing.

Leave that to the experts like TT.

    :good: D2D

why carnt you juat admit the only thing your good for is pressing the tv remote and thats as close to nature as you get by the sounds of it get a life. and where are all your pic and videos ????????????????????????????????:P??

Theres not alot anyone can say to an ignorant pr*t like you, except that your lack of experience is glaringly obvious since you are behaving as though you are a newcomer to shooting.

If like you I posted every time I shot a rabbit we would very soon be sick of it.

As far as I am concerned the subject is closed before everyone gets bored to death.

    D2D

  16. guys i have to say i hate the negative publicity against semi autos.why should they be frowned upon? the biggest argument is always safety.maybe im dumb but a side by side or over and under has a trigger and a safety like my semis so why should there be a difference.i can understand them not being liked at clay shoots(in case shells hit another gun).i love my semis and prefer them to any other type but i do believe folks dislike of them to be unfair.gun safety is a priority and surely a wreckless person could be wreckless with an ou as a semi. a lot of people shoot them due to injuries etc.as i say i have been to dtl shoots and if a guy walks in he is stared at and made feel uncomfortable, i feel that all shooters should be treated equal and encouraged into the sport and if a semi is all they can afford well thenlet them at it.i know every time i go to the cabinet 9 times out of 10 i lift the semi.workhorse guns that if anything breaks i can replace the part myself. does anybody else get p***ed of with the negative attitude to semis?

In a word yes, like you I enjoy my semi, its fac and not been blocked off, I just dont understand it when I get strange looks when I take up my peg at pheasant shoots ???

Seriously, I have encounted a neg attitude at several clay shoots even though I use an autosafe to show it is absolutley safe.

    D2D

Added later.... just to avoid confusion I was only joking about turning up with the semi :good:

  17. So how did he vanish when the camera zoomed out ? and its not a certainty its a spent case that goes across the screen, it could be a flying insect if you watch closely.

:) Looks a lot more like a butterfly going past than an ejected 22 round the sound of bolt been worked is beside camera and as it zooms out i cant see anyone running away :good: Looks around 50yrds like the video title suggests.

cheers lads after slowing vid down i can cofirm that it is a insect as for d2d this guy must be a clown cos his eyes are painted on or he must be able to hit a barn door with a shotgun at 20y :o :D:D:D?????????

You need to grow up sonny. what are you gabbling on about clowns and eyes for?
