  1. Hi mate, Firstly I really hope you and the missus can sort something out and in the grand scale of things, your kids come first and thats your prioity. I am astonished that the police are being criticised for seizing your guns. My criticism is that they did not seize your certificates at the same time. Look at the circumstances. You state that you cannot live without them and drive off. . The Police are called They didn't just turn up out of the blue. ( by who and what was the nature of the call? Maybe the wife calling to say that her husband may be away to kill himself. Who knows.) The police have a job to do and all this talk of them acting illegally ect. Rash decisions and all that. Good grief .Think about it. Leave them with the police as they are not going to charge you storage fees! Concentrate on sorting things with your family. The shooting will always come again Having been there before I truly hope that you can get things sorted and what is it they say. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And good luck
  2. Hi Sam, Been going over there for over 20 years and still love it! Re the tickets. It all depends on how long you are going over for and whether you wish to spend all your time doing the theme parks which can be physically very demanding, depending on the age of your kids. The past few years I have waited until I got over there and got my tickets. A lot of the "special" deals you get here are 14 day expiry with the clock starting to tick on your first use. Bob
  3. Hi there, If you are putting such a young dog into a kennel, one of the things to consider is you will probably end up with a dogs thats not house trained and will be conditioned into crapping in the kennel or run. Its so much easier to take a dog from an indoor enviroment and put him outside. Rearing them outside brings certain issues with acceptable table manners ect if they are occasionally allowed inside when older. Asfar as the kennel itself goes, the dog must have a section which is dry and draught free. As far as bedding goes, with winter coming you will need something to keep the dog warm. I personally use bales os hay, very cheap and easily obtainable and simply burned when finished with. Ask 10 owners with outside dogs and you will get 10 different recommendations for suitable bedding! Maybe worthwhile installing one of these tube heaters which cost pennies to run and if enclosed behind mesh, are perfectly safe. Also meant to add, be very careful about leaving the pup in an enclosed space with your 3 yr old bitch. If your not there to supervise, the pup could end up with a sore one if it annoys the older dog who is unable you get away from the pup. Maybe to start with, have a low partition that the older dog can jump over to get away from the pup if she wants to. Bob
  4. Hi Iksopener, I like the look of the Seeland coat and if you would post it for £45 we could have a deal. Bob
  5. Hi there, I will take the trousers please if you can PM me with details of payment, Thanks, Bob
  6. http://stores.pellet-perfect.com/-strse-Pellet-Perfect-Sets-.177/Categories.bok Hi there, Nearly all barrels are pellet fussy and even identical models can prefer different pellets. These people do a selection pack to find your best one. I just tried the link which isn't working but the website is www.pellet-perfect.com
  7. (1)In this Act— . “agricultural land” means land used as arable, meadow or grazing land, or for the purpose of poultry farming, pig farming, market gardens, allotments, nursery grounds or orchards; and “livestock” means cattle, sheep, goats, swine, horses, or poultry, and for the purposes of this definition “cattle” means bulls, cows, oxen, heifers or calves, “horses” includes ***** and mules, and “poultry” means domestic fowls, turkeys, geese or ducks. On reading the Legislation, it actually defines poultry which am sure it was debated before if pheasants in a pen were defined as domestic poultry.
  8. As previously mentioned, its difficult to give definitive answer without knowing the facts BUT pheasants can indeed be classed as "livestock" and if they are reared or kept in connection with the owners livelihood, the owner can indeed shot a dog if its worrying them. Got to say also guys (and girls) pretty poor the number of posters hinting at retribution against the gamekeeper when we do not know the facts.
  9. Hi there. Sorry mate but if you intend to get a young dog which will be kept on its own for 8 hours a day, thats totally unacceptable. If you went to any Dog Rescue Centre and offered to re home a dog and told them that, they would chase you. Its just not the right time for you to own a dog I'm afraid
  10. Hi Jim, I sympathise with your position. Its an awful one to be in. If you cannot rehome the dogs with someone you know personally, it then becomes desperate as you get close to leaving or relocating . If I were you I would contact Dogs Trust and ask if they can help. They will obviously try and advice you as best they can without taking the dogs from you, but its best to start looking at the distinct possibility that you will have to go without the dogs. They are big boys and not everyone wants a big dog. Dogs Trust have rehoming centres throughout the Country and may have a potential owner for them somewhere. I would like to point out that I have no connection whatsoever with them but have in the past had dealings with them and have found them to be very good and primarily concerned in helping the dog! Good luck!
  11. Screwfix or any plumbers merchants do them there nor expensive and its even better if you can borrow a leafblower to get the smoke down
  12. Firstly, are you certain that the dog destroyed your parcel. Seems kinda strange for a dog to go off its own territory and destroy a parcel and leave it there. Is it a puppy perhaps. All this talk of electric fencing would escalate this where it would all end in tears. I am a reasonable sort but I can assure you that if my neighbour put up an electric fence and I had young children who got shocked. I think reason would go out the window, whether my dog was straying or not! The invisible electric fencing mentioned is expensive and unsuitable for this scenario. It also requires the dog to wear an expensive "correction collar" which "corrects" the dog as it passes over the wire. You have to go round and speak to the man of the house. He has probably not come round to see you as he knows he/they are at fault. If he is not reasonable, tell him next time dog comes into your garden, you will take it in and phone the dog warden to come pick it up as a stray dog. I personally would use chicken wire, reinforce the hedge, and be thankful you only rent next to that lot!
  13. My opinion would be absolutely not! The fact that there is a divorce in the pipeline with kids involved and its not Hollywood, this will turn round and bite you/your buddy. Real life divorces have a habit of becoming nasty. I've been there. If the estranged wife is "anti" it will probably be anti gun and anti anything at all the husband does with the kids. I have been there mate where I got it in the neck from my ex for exposing my kids to danger. I was utterly reckless and took them for their first ride in a convertible with the roof down. ( proper kiddie seats were used )it was July and a nice day! A lawyer put pen to paper with that one as well! Give them a treat when the divorce is done and dusted and they do not have a points scoring system in place
  14. I keep hens and the worse culprits were the crows. Jackdaws were always hanging around but they looked as if they were eating the eggs which got dropped by the crows! I was losing nearly all my eggs until I eventually netted over my entire hen run. Once the crows had worked out how to enter the nest boxes via the pop hole in the hutch, there was no stopping them. They are rather smart.
  15. Hi there, Just after I moved into an old rural property I had symptoms exactly as you describe. Turns out the field where the "soak away" pipe went towards was like a swamp with march grass growing and was very boggy. Not a good sign. Turns out the old clay pipe had collapsed and the soak away was not working as it should. It wass only due to the infrequency of the toilet/ sewage system being used that it didn't appear nearer the house. I started digging and after about 3 ft it was like I had struck oil! Only black very smelly and not valuable oil. Anyway new section of pipe and 4 years later system is working perfectly. Company who empty them told me that if you are careful with detergents, bleaches ect. the septic tank should never really require emptying. It works out much cheaper having them come out and empty if it needs doing rather than go onto a yearly or two yearly contract. I periodically lift the inspection/access cover and touch wood, all is still as it should be.
  16. Hi everyone, A few times in the past I have came across PW whilst searching on the web and more recently when researching the NS200 Nite Site. Seems to be lots of info available on all sorts of shooting related subjects so I thought from now on I could make this my first port of call!
