  1. Right excuse my arrogance but i dont want to go the tax website and go through all there tax jargon. Iv been a diesel mechanic since i was 16. iv had some really poorly paid jobs, because everybody has to start at the bottom but now iv got a very good job with a very good wage. but when i do overtime the amount of tax a pay that week is absolutely shocking. I paid over £300 last week in income tax and it wasn't that long ago i made that in a week!!! I know there will be people on here that will answer my question. I also know there will be nothing i can do about it. It just makes me think your getting penalized for working hard. I dont really get a choice, i have to do the overtime to catch up, or when a crane goes BANG in a spectacular way. Surely if everyone has more disposable income it will be good for the economy, i just cant get my head around it.
  2. iv gone out and ordered one from my rfd. should be here next week.
  3. Nothing runs like a deere. i worked for a john deere dealership before i went on cranes, i though they were great machines.
  4. Moderator wanted please. Around the north west area would be great. I thought id got one but it was the wrong thread. Please pm me. Cheers
  5. I think it will be the paperwork that will stop me. Thanks for the reply. The last thing i want is to get into bother over a moderator.
  6. Now i have no idea if this ok to do, so il ask the more experienced shooters on here. will a 6.5 laupa mod fit a 22-250 rifle.? A friend has a brand new mod not being used and i have a 22-250 and want a mod. Unless its a guaranteed yes il just buy a new mod from my rfd. Cheers
  7. Got a phone call of my rfd today, "iv got a 22-250 in the shop its got your name all over it". its a remington 700 synthetic stock. its second hand but well looked after. rifling been checked, all good. £400. just going to fit my nikon monarch and off i go.
  8. you know how it is. iv got my heart set on 22 250. i think the best thing to do is get a cheaper one first ie savage or weatherby and when my wife finished in uni and not draining my bank account il get something better. iv got to wait for my variation anyway and god knows how long that will be. i hope i don't run out hmr ammo. thanks everyone.
  9. sorry to confuse, i was thinking of getting a dirt cheap tikka and having it barreled this was going to work out to much. im a bit worried of buying a used c/f i dont know if you can measure barrel wear. its a chance i take. I though it would be better to buy a budget 22 250 than a second hand decent rifle ie tikka.
  10. cheers. what scope are you using? great shooting
  11. strange! how many wires on the back of the alternator?
  12. some of you may have read a post about the cost of getting a second hand tikka t3 and have it re barreled. (22 250). im waiting for a variation to come back for 22 250. this will be my first cf. Im not a professional shooter, i don't want to shoot targets at 800 yrds, i want to shoot foxes across moor-land at around 300 yrd mark and maybe the occasional crow at long distance. There are some new cf out recently that seem to be to good to be true ie weatherby vangaurd for around £650 or the savage arms axis, same sort of price. im not going to reload, so factory ammo only, and i will fit a mod. As my wife has gone to university to better herself, iv got a limited budget so want my cash to go as far it can without making the wrong choice. i also understand the saying buy **** buy twice. Advice pls thanks to all who reply. Any good rifle in 22 250 thats not expensive is what i want!
  13. as a diesel mech, my perms can keep me very busy from re- wiring trailers - gearbox rebuilds. done a transmission on a 6610 john deere and mccormic mc115 this year! Hopefully word of mouth will spread and when i get another broken tractor i get a new perm!
  14. if you think its an earth problem get a jump lead and put one end on the engine and one end on neg of the battery if it starts or trys to start this will tell you if its a earth fault. you have normally 2 wires on the starter motor. one is a thick heavy wire 12v constant. the second wire is alot thinner and should be 12v when you turn key to start this is your exciter wire. is dash lights coming on when you turn the ignition on? i do enjoy a electrical fault! im an electrician on mobile cranes.if you have a wiring diagram and you can send it to me il try to help you out. pm me if you want.
  15. iv spent alot of money with my rfd this year. Iv only ever had cheap scopes. My rfd offered me a ziess durlayt for very good money and im over the moon with it. if fitted it my 17 hmr. i had a mount issue with it at first but now its sorted it great. I want another one for my 22 250 when i get it.
  16. Im a crane mechanic on mobile and crawlers. I love it. Every day is a challenge. Plus never know were im of to each morning. most of my other mates now work on cranes in the oil industry. I don't know whether to stay with current employer (who's fantastic) or go on a platform.
  17. iv put in for a 22 250. Just had the garden and the bathroom done so the wife is happy but left my bank account drained! I was thinking of buying a tikka as cheap as possible and having a new barrel fitted. im not interested in a match type barrel or shooting above 300yrds as its just for fox control. does anyone know the cost of a standard barrel? or is this a bad idea? thanks to anyone that reply's
  18. thanks for the replys. Will have a good think this week.
  19. Spoke to my fao on thusrday, i want a cf rifle for fox. He told me to chose what caliber i wanted then send a letter but could see no reason why it wouldn't be granted. This will be my first cf. i currently have a 17hmr. My fao told me a 22 250 would be right up my street but have a look around first. anyone got any advise? The foxes around me pm never come any closer than 200 yds and any squeaking there off. Its also very hilly and very good backstops on most fields. Basically welsh moorland. Thanks to all those who reply. Not to bothered about ammo costs either.
