  1. It had a trigger kit fitted by the previous owner and it really is a pleasure to use. I did not know you can get barrels off the shelf. I thought custom was the only way to go. thanks to all that have replied. Iv had 30 foxes with the old girl so im going to keep it no matter what.
  2. For my first c/f i bought a used, cheap Remington 700 in April this year. i dont know how many rounds were put through it by the previous owner but iv put around 700/800 through it. It shoots a bullet on bullet group at 100yrds and i can shoot my 4" steel target 300yrds away all day long (figure of speech). But from what iv read these barrels are only good for a 1000 rounds. Is this really the case? When will i know its worn out? i use 55gn hornady v-max that i get very cheap. Why is almost cheaper to buy a new rifle than to have it re barreled? i can buy a brand new Remington 700adl for £450 but it costs around £5/600 for new barrel. Atb Merry christmas
  3. For the price of a ns200 you can make a nv kit + spotter and still have change. Its very easy to make and as iv said before if it brakes you will be able to repair it yourself. I had a home made system for around 6 months then upgraded to n750 that i could not get on with. I prefered my home nv. I wouldsay to people just have go, whats therr to loose? If you dont like it sell it! The cameras have come down in price, sure24 service is very good.
  4. already spoke to julian and he told me if you think its similar to an archer you will be very disappointed. I went to starlight 2 weeks ago to pick up some stuff and i asked quite a few questions. Its using a watec 902 board cam which is very good but will not match good gen 3.
  5. Oh yes i made one for 300 that was alot better than the ns200. i killed over 20 foxes with it this year. on a 22-250. go to the above mentioned website and alot of people on there will help you out. Ns200 is very overpriced imo.
  6. Anyone insure there n.v equipment ie archer?
  7. are you using an i phone or other type? im wanting something like yours so i can record my archer with my Samsung galaxy. cant find the cover you've bought on eBay though.
  8. no but im giving one up! iv just turned 30 and iv decided to hang up my leathers. my motorbike will be up for sale in the spring. iv had my license since i was 21 and most people that know me cant believe iv not had a big accident, especially on track days. iv seen some very close friends have very bad accidents. Iv had an amazing time on my bikes but im starting to get scarred now. i do fancy a v8 now though anybody on here with a monaro?
  9. The farmers of my perms take mine. god know what they do with them, iv often wondered.
  10. Has anybody got a nm800 that i could come and try with my archer before i commit to buy one. i live in the mold / denbigh area. Iv got a few ir torches in mind but would really like to try the nm800. you could try the archer out at the same time if you wanted. atb
  11. Well my first night after picking my archer from starlight in Manchester yesterday. I managed to get 2 but could not find one as it managed to run into some very thick undergrowth. This is a fixen but it bounced around alot in the back of the mule so looks a bit of a mess. My opion of the archer so far, its absolutely amazing.you can see alot further than you can ever shoot and because you can use it as a spotter its completes a very good system. Its a d grade tube if anyone's interested. il make a camera mount for it in the new year so i can get quality footage. They are alot of money but there worth that little bit extra compared to a high end digital scope. For those who have read my posts they will know iv tried a few nv systems this year but this wins hands down imo. Peter
  12. All sorted - note to self ready the ****** instructions !!!!
  13. Iv got myself an archer but my t20 ir is way to powerful for it. wjat are the good people of pw using? I tcan borrow a laser of my mate for now but will need to get an ir torch eventually. Thnks Peter
  14. I learend this from an old guy who used to break safes in banks when they would not open.(legally). if you snap a hardened bolt, im saying high tensile and its not sticking out of the hole to get an easy out on it dont worry. get a bosch masonry drill bit (the ones with the painted blue line work best) and dull the flaps a bit on the end of the drill bit with a grinder and use that to drill the high tensile bolt/stud out. it works every time for me i just helicoil the thread once the studs been drilled. Mercedes 6cyl truck engines are really prone for snapping there exhaust studs and id normally have to take the head of to sort it properly but i just do this now. Another trick thats made me a few quid is if you snap a key in a door/ignition simply get a junior hacksaw blade and cut the little retaining pins off on either end. then have the blade with the teeth pointing towards you and grind the flat part of the blade down untill its quite thin. simply put the blade into the lock with the teeth facing you twist very slightly and the teeth grip the broken key and pull it out. more tips to come-most of them to do mechanics
  15. Hello simon i do a rotation of my perms and on my 2 big perms i split the land in 2 as well so not to overshoot. i normally get on each one once a month. Plus i get a call from the keeper on an estate during the week, so im very very lucky. i can honestly say its probably the best thing that ever came about when i worked for john deere as a mechanic i got to meet alot of farmers. i gave it up though as its too seasonal and the wages are very poor.
  16. Thanks all for your replys- im going to keep going untill i get foxy number 30 this year. Not bad considering iv only had my c/f since April.
  17. All received and boxed up. Hope you enjoy it. SOLD SOLD SOLD
  18. Any body want to make a realistic offer? Your welcome to see before you buy.
  19. Was thinking of that but its just more cost. if i got a say an archer i could swap from rifle to rifle plus could use it as a spotter as well.. plus putting in a variation is such a pain in the backside.. Peter
  20. I miss using my rifle in the day to much. Plus i can use it on my hmr as well, my 22-250 kills rabbits a bit to well.
  21. This fox was taken last night at a 184 yrds with my 22-250 vmax 50gn. i missed one earlier in the night at what i though was 250 yrd turns out it was 320 yrds so got my range finding totally wrong. oh well it will come with experience. i always try and get the range finder out with the lamp after i take the shot. My n750 is for sale. Going to an add on.
  22. Another 1 for me last night-forgot to check what sex it was. my total this year 27. Total 420
