  1. Off subject but I scared myself then thinking id made a post I hadnt!! Ironically you have the same first name also! On topic, congrats mate and if its on your ticket that should be all you need. He obviously changed his mind! ATB Matt
  2. Does anyone have any images or write up on shot placement for clays? When I went on an experience day the instructor told us where to aim for I.e shoot its legs off or up its bum. Im sure theres a more technical term but it helped massively. Now im on my own id like to learn where to place shots dependant on the trajectory of the clay. Ive googled but cant find anything on it so if anyone has anything it would be massively appreciated. Atb Matt
  3. Id take you up on the offer if I was closer just for the fact you nearly have the same name as me!
  4. Hi Simon, I went for the first time last week and scored the same, 18 out of 50 on Sporting. Practise makes perfect. ATB Matt
  5. Remy did invite me along to a clay ground towards Matlock so im sure we can arrange something
  6. Popped up to Cockett Farm today to buy some cartridges and to see what it was like there. Looks good and the woman on the desk was very friendly and helpful. I told her I may come on my own and she made me feel very welcome and that someone would go around with me or id be paired up with someone else on their own.
  7. Thanks Julia that sounds great! My 4 on 4 off shifts fall that im off Sat-Tue next week so may pop down one of them days! What's the pricing for sporting clays? I can't see any prices on the website. ATB Matt
  8. Thats great thanks! I didnt realise you could go on your own to these places. I always thought you needed a shooting buddy to pull the clays for you!
  9. Hi all, I recently acquired my Shotgun Certificate and bought a Rizzini, E the other day. I'm yet to get out and shoot it mainly because none of my friends shoot (some would like to get into it) so was wondering if I could tag along with someone sometime? Im in Ravenshead so my local shoot would probs be Cockett Farm but im happy to travel to others. Obviously im a total noob (but very safety concious and know the safety rules so please dont let that put you off) so may miss a lot of clays. Im just looking for a likeminded person to shoot with and someone who may be able yo give me some pointers. Unfortunately due to the cost im going to be an every 3 to 4 weeks shooter and wouldnt be able to commit weekly. So people is anyone game? ATB, Matt Edit: im 25 years old btw (some people may rather shoot with an older person so thought id add that in)
  10. Police Force: Nottinghamshire Posted: January 10th 2014 (hand delivered) Confirmation: Jan 10th Interview: May 29th Received Grant: 7th July Total Weeks: 25 1/2 or 180 days! An absolute nightmare from start to finish! Lets hope the renewal in 5 years will be a little more stress free!
  11. My plate was bought for me over 10 years ago by my parents before I could even drive as plate back then where cheaper. It was £500 then and I have recently had it valued at £1500 I'd never get rid of it because its me and who I am and everyone who knows me knows my private plate!
  12. Turns out that wasn't my interview! I had an FEO visit yesterday and she was very pleased. Hopefully only a couple of more weeks! Today will be day 150 since my application went in!
  13. Id be up for it mate when my license eventually comes through. Got a deposit on an E.Rizzini so ill want to get it straight out and use it!
  14. It might be overkill but when I went on an experience day the female instructor carried in a slip from stand to stand but what she did do was open the barrels, put it in the slip barrel first and then closed the shotgun up. Then when she got it out broke the barrels before removing it from the slip. Suppose this way its always an open gun until the very last minute.
  15. Im now on day 129 since my application was put in. Good news is ive had the interview and they expect my license to be with me within 2 weeks! About time!
  16. I think I read somewhere that some species of gull are actually quite rare/little of them. They all look the same to me so even if a few species were on the GL I wouldn't bother as id probably end up shooting a rare one. Ill stick to what I know!
  17. I have the new Macbook Air with retina display and its a good bit of kit. Been advised it will last 8+ years as well. It better do with a £1250 price tag!
  18. Yeh I think this is what will happen. They said I would have a letter in the next 2-4 weeks (they said they would try and get it sooner as ive already been waiting 16 weeks) stating if ive been granted a cert or not. Im glad it had a positive outcome as well, I was a little apprehensive at first but went in knowing id done nothing wrong and it must be a error/misunderstanding that could be easily be sorted. Matt
  19. Well I was interviews under police caution and the interview taped. Was advised I could walk out at any time and have a legal representative at my own cost. Tbh I wasn't majorly concerned as I knew I had done nothing wrong. I was asked the general questions that I guessed your asked on a FEO visit like why do you want a shotgun etc. The reason I was told to come in and was interview under police caution was there was some intelligence from back in 2011 that my partners car was linked to a altercation with a woman at a pub in Mansfield. Obviously the description of the male involved didnt match myself so they wanted to try and rule me out of it. Came to the conclusion that my partners car had had her number plates cloned onto another car or that the registration given by the lady was incorrect and flagged up my partners car. The thing I don't understand is why then didn't investigate this 3 years ago and come knocking on our door? They are happy with my stories etc and are now going to pass my information on to the FEO to make a decision on my license. Been told ill receive a letter within the next few weeks granting or not granting me a license. Fingers crossed! Matt
  20. How strange! I rang after about 4 weeks and was told by the Sargent to ring back mid April as they were massively busy and had a back log and it wouldn't be looked at until then.
  21. How did you manage that?! I put mine in with Nottinghamshire Police on 10 Jan and have got my interview on 30th April! That makes it a little under 16 weeks before I've even been seen and your has been done dusted and in your hand in 10 weeks?!
  22. Who would you recommend to ring? Im new to this so not part of any shooting organisation. I have air rifles but again not a member of any organisations. Sorry to sound nieve. Matt
  23. My brother has had a few run ins with the boys in blue. We're like polar opposites, i'm the goody two shoes he's the black sheep. I haven't seen my brother for a few years now though and I obviously live in my own household away from him. That was my other thought that maybe I've been mistaken for the local crim who has a list as long as your arm of offences!
