    Pinkfoot!

Have been told by a couple of other wildfowlers on the wash who have seen a couple of small parties passing through on Thursday afternoon
  2. Always wanted the super solway, never could find 1 when I had the money so settled on a no3 magnum with 30 inch barrels, got mine bored to half and half, never had any problems shooting 3 inch steel through her
  3. I bet if you if the old wildfowlers of yesteryear had the kit available that we do they would jump at the chance of being warm and dry
  4. Am in favour of leaving the season as it is, some of the best duck shooting on our marsh is the 20 days in February when the big estates that border our marsh stop feeding the flight ponds, within a week we normally get a noticeable increase in duck numbers
  5. Went this morning for a look on the tide only saw half dozen teal and a small Skien of feral greylag, the pinks seem to have moved on to god knows where, the only things that did any good were the mozzies, bring on the cold I say
  6. I don't really go after the geese anymore, prefer going after the duck, but if a goose comes along will take my chance, I only shot the 1 pinkfoot last season 6.5 x55SE
  7. From my area on the eastern side of the wash, would say you have more of a chance shooting a bean goose by accident than getting a EWF, the bean goose seems to be getting a more regular visitor
  8. Have only ever shot 1 EWF back in 2003, had a misfire with the second barrel so the left and right at them was gone, didn't let the dog retrieve it in case it spoilt the plumage, magical bird, if I am lucky to ever get another I will have it stuffed and mounted
  9. Going by some of the clips on YouTube how the Russian and east Europeans are going at them I don't think it will be many years before they are off the quarry list altogether
  10. My no3 magnum throws lovely patterns with game bore super steel and mammoth as long as I do my part they do the job for me, and the game bore rhino in the 10 is throwing excellent patterns through a brilley light full

    Pinks

There's about 5/600 on snettisham side of the wash tonight
  12. Well finally made it down the marsh for my first flight of the season, not ideal conditions but still nice to get some mud on the boots, got set up on a nice area of splashes and sat back enjoying the sight of several parties of pinks dropping way out on the tide, evening flight progressed with more pinks coming on miles high then whiffling down to join the others, duck flight was very poor but with the moon on to be expected really, got taken by surprise by a lone teal in the fading light and that was my best chance of a shot, so my first flight was a blank but still very enjoyable to be back down there enjoying all the sights and sounds once again
  13. Good luck to you both on Thursday, a pink in September is a special bird to put in the bag, looking forward to hearing how you both get on
  14. Now starting to get all the equipment together for home loading for the 10, got enough decent factory loads to not really worry about loading for the 12 just yet
  15. I know its not a loading recipe but bornaghi do a 36 gram load with crimp closure in a 70 mm case, have you looked at precision reloading or ballistic products web pages in the states they might have something you are looking for mate
  16. Its vastly different over in the states, most of our style of shooting wildfowl they class as skybusting
  17. Glad to have been a bit of help, have heard good reports about the eley lighting as nic posted but have never used them as I bought the mammoth in bulk, best I could suggest is to do some pattern tests to see which works best with your gun mate
  18. Had my aya no3 magnum since 1977 which I have now had to retire, also had 391 Beretta but the old aya is always the go to gun, the missus got me a Browning gold 10 for my birthday, its still in the cabinet unfired lol
  19. I took a american cousin of mine out wildfowling and he said that the style of shooting was crazy, it was on a evening tide flight in a northerly gale, had virtually lead him off the marsh by his hand
  20. Its my main choice for a goose load, have killed a lot of geese with them, and missed them as well but that's just me not doing my part
  21. Always nice to see and hear them at the start of a new season, gets the heart pumping as well
  22. Personal choice is game bore mammoth 36 gram 1s
  23. The 1 thing that I urge roostshooter1 to check on is the ability of his gun and or chokes to use the high performance steel loads, and hope you have a good days shooting
  24. You won't go wrong with the super steel on duck or a medium range goose the 4s are good but my personal choice is no3s in the super steel through my aya which is choked half in both barrels
