  1. I have come across this quite a bit, probably been to more unwelcoming rude RFD's. Than I have good ones. I remember this especially when I was new to the sport. Asking questions a beginner would ask and in return they get snotty and condescending. Unfortunately these are normally the same individuals who complain that business is not going so well, not enough new shooters. Then stop chasing them away !
  2. Does anyone know if there are any retailers in the UK that sell checkering tools ?
  3. I am now have the gun in question and I can confirm it's not rust or pitting, it is the crackle like finish. It's a bit worn and lost it black colour, but a quick wipe over with an oily rag made it look much better.
  4. I have now purchased a shotgun from this RFD, All is good very fast on delivery.
  5. I'll report back when I see it in the flesh.
  6. Thanks for the information I appreciate it.
  7. I am currently looking to buy an Auto 5 and I have come across a few where the receivers have a sort of stone chip finish. I just can't make out if it's a factory finish or badly pitted from excessive rust what do you think?
  8. There is one bad one, however it seems a very unique situation with a disgruntled customer.
  9. This is why I thought I'd ask, did not want to make judgements just based on a vague website.
  10. Yes you are absolutely right, this made me a bit suspicious.
  11. I am looking to potentially buy a shotgun from this RFD. Does anyone know of them or had dealings with them? https://www.gunsandguns.co.uk/
  12. As I see it police with guns, no matter how well trained and how reserved. Innocent people will eventually get injured or die as a result, that's the price we have to pay. If the armed police are just there as a visual deterrent we might as well not have them. I think it's absolutely the right thing for them to hand in their tickets.
  13. I got a Hatsan mk1, I bought it on a whim and never looked back. Gun fit it's all wrong, but some how it works and I have never shot better with any other gun. I bought it as a back up but it's my main gun now. I think it's been over a year since I have shoot my over and under. The stock is way to short end up with a black eye or a bruised nose most days. Only time it plays up is when it's not cleaned well. Or I have not given it a good serving of gun grease.
  14. You need to be proactive and email him I am sure he got just what you looking for.😜
  15. Well gents I have been having some fun with this lad. I have been stringing him along for 2 days now for my own amusement. I posted for a Browning Auto 5 in the wanted section. And I got a pm from this very resourceful character. So I sent of an email to enquire and got a swift response with some pictures of a very fine auto 5. I asked the usual gun questions and the responses seems fairly legitimate. I then run the pictures of the gun he sent through Google and you would not believe it I found the exact some one for sale in the USA. He then offered it to me for a very lucrative price. So I started haggling and he dropped the price without a quibble, a very fair sales man. I then started to arrange getting the gun and he had the perfect solution no RFD involved he would simply FedEx me the gun. However I think my fun is now over I asked him for a copy of his certificate so I can inform the police of the transfer of ownership. And now he has lost interest in the sale. Such a shame I thought I was into a winner. All joking aside this guy nearly had me convinced, be careful. And thank you to the moderators for jumping on it so quickly

    Browning Auto 5

Hi Any Browning auto 5 for sale ?
  17. No worries, soon as I am back I'll get them sorted.
  18. I can print those for you, I am currently on holiday abroad and should be back in the UK on the 20th. Happy to do it if you can wait.
  19. I have tried this a few times but never been lucky enough to yield good results. So I just change insurance company every year. The best one that comes to mind when I asked to reduce my renewal because the competition was offering better and the lady on the phone came up with a great idea she said. If I increase my voluntary excess from £100 to £600 it will bring the premium down to a competitive sum. She really thought this was a great idea and I kept asking her why would I want to do that. in the end I did not renew with them.
  20. I have used them a few times over the years including this year. No complaints however I have never made a claim so I do not know how well that process works. My renewal came in last week at double the price, so as of next week I am no longer with 1st central.
  21. Oh the big bad government at it again coming after us with text messages how outrages. Switch off your phone revert back to a short wave radio and morse code. The next pandemic has already started it's all this anti government brain rot that seems to be making the rounds.
  22. Having lived in a country with no real public healthcare and seen how financially devastating it is when things go wrong. I would not mind paying for the small stuff like doctors visits, X rays, minor procedures etc. As long as the NHS is there for the big stuff. While still living in a country with no public healthcare my dad needed a kidney transplant and it cleared out all his savings, pension, and medical insurance. And there was financial help from family members.
  23. My sister's old boss made her a company director without her knowledge then coerced her into signing for 150k loan. Her boss then ran away with the money spending it on drugs and hotels. Leaving my sister with a 150k CCJ totally ruined her. Lesson to be learned never sign anything on behalf of someone else, even if your boss tells you to do it.
  24. You never know it might be the snap caps as they claimed. It just so happened that my snap caps came fitted with an angle grinder and a pair of pliers I recon those little rascals got out at night and cause some mischief.
  25. Thanks for letting me know, I think these are supposed to be crimped but have come loose. I was surprised just how loose they were they just spin freely. I did think to myself I'll grab some green loctite at work and lock them in place once set. This way they won't wiggle loose without heat. It still seems strange that the gunsmith handed the gun back in this state, its so simple it almost seems deliberate. Perhaps he did set it and just forgot to crimp the end Only one way to confirm and that's to get it down to the range and put a few boxes of cartridges through it.
