I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Conservatives have inside info about the EU election results, and with the drubbing they received at the local elections it was only a matter of time before she was kicked out the door. It's called 'Population Matters' and it's patron is none other than Sir David Attenborough, although you probably wouldn't have heard too much about it as it doesn't fit with the political climate agenda.

On your first point I have no idea whether Monnet actually said what has been attributed to him, it wouldn't surprise me but with no proof it goes into my 'ignore bin'. On your second point however I can categorically state that there is, and always has been a plan for a federalised Europe. Robert Shuman's declaration, written jointly with Jean Monnet makes quite clear the plan for federalisation. The declaration led to the formation of the European Steel and Coal Community, which in turn led to the EEC, which morphed into the EU. It has always been the aim of the federalists to 'break' the nation states of Europe and bring them all together under a centralised control structure. It's been plain to see from day one, it's made quite clear in all the treaties where all this is leading, and yes, we have sleepwalked into it. It was easy for our treacherous 'leaders' to hoodwink us into believing it was a good thing and nothing to worry about, as they signed over the country to a foreign power in Brussels. It was easy because for most of the time parliament wasn't televised, we didn't have 24 hr news and most importantly we didn't have the internet. Well we do now, and we can SEE what's happening on a daily basis, we can read and hear from a huge number of news sources, not just the BBC and the old broadsheets. Indeed, as I expect are some 17.4m others. As an aside I think it's time we saw a lot more candidates of Mike Greene's ilk, whoever they may be standing for. The days of the career politician who studied PPE, worked as an intern, licks some bumcrack and is then parachuted into the nearest safe seat has proven to be a failure of gargantuan proportions. Let's hope the electorate in Peterborough realise what they could be setting in motion here.

We are not asking for the 2019 General Licences to be withdrawn, but rather that Natural England does not issue further General Licences and instead develops a legal system for regulating and monitoring the killing of birds if lethal control is absolutely necessary as a last resort. We see the General Licence system as a clear example of how wildlife killing is largely unregulated in the UK. The system is lax and allows gamekeepers, farmers and others to kill birds without any proper oversight or regulation.

Your posts are becoming more bizarre as this thread progresses. Why on earth are you quoting the Tory manifesto from Cameron's party in 2015? We've moved on a bit since then. Yes, everyone knows Cameron said 'yes to the single market' but unfortunately for him the majority of voters who voted in 2016 said NO, we don't want it, and whilst they were at it they said NO to the customs union, the ECJ, the CAP, the CFP and everything else the EU and our own treacherous politicians have foisted, by stealth, upon us since 1973.

He's no conservative, he'd have been far more at home in Blair's Labour party. Certainly no loss, and the Tories, if they're to survive, would do well to get rid of a few others of his ilk. I see he's going to stay on as an 'independent progressive conservative' whatever the **** that might be!! I'm guessing he'll just continue to be a pain in the backside on the backbenches whilst still drawing his salary and claiming his expenses. His deselection can't come soon enough.

Are you for real? It was made absolutely clear by both sides that leaving the EU meant leaving the customs union, single market, ECJ and all other EU institutions. The leave campaign claimed this to be a good thing, and remain said it would be bad... but make no mistake EVERYBODY (who was paying attention) knew exactly what they were voting for. To say people didn't vote to leave the CU/SM/ECJ is pure unadulterated rubbish, as you well know!

So it seems the EU have decided that all new cars sold in Europe (and the UK have agreed to follow suit) from 2022 will have to be fitted with speed limiters to automatically stop drivers from breaking speed limits. Irrespective of the obvious 'big brother' connotations how will this play out with car manufacturers across the continent? Surely anyone thinking of buying a new car will be less likely to stump up their hard earned for a new Ferrari/Porshe/Maserati etc if they can't get past Mrs.Miggins from Basingstoke in her Renault Twingo on the M25. I'm pretty sure new car sales will take a nosedive when this is forced upon consumers as people buy secondhand, or keep faith with what they already drive. I really can't see the big German, French and Italian car manufacturers being too enthralled by this. What does everyone else think?

As far as I'm concerned it's no different to anyone else who's in the public eye, especially in something as divisive as Brexit. We can't all hide and suppress our opinions for the fear of being targeted by a few nutters, so yes, I would happily stand on a public platform and give my opinion.

If I were to have been the architect of such a petition of course I'd be happy to be seen. I'm sure there are plenty of petitioners who are real, and I'm sure that the petition is the largest there's been but it means absolutely nothing. If Jeremy Corbyn started a petition to have a general election next week I'm sure the numbers would dwarf the EU petition...but there would be no election. So, who is Ms Georgiadou?

Has anyone ever actually seen her? For such a high profile person, a supposed retired lecturer and political activist there doesn't seem to be a single picture of her on t'internet. Not a single picture on her social media networks, she doesn't turn up to the march yesterday and only does interviews by phone. I'm beginning to wonder if Margaret Georgiadou actually exists.

I agree it can only show limited information, but it clearly shows that remain areas would still vote to remain, and leave areas would vote to leave. That much has not changed, there is certainly not the seismic shift across the country as being portrayed by the remain camp. Whether there is a shift significant enough to reverse the 2016 referendum result would of course be open to question, however, if I was in the remain camp I would want to be seeing massive changes across the whole country before waving my sphincter spangled blue rag with too much gusto. The solution to me is fairly simple. Bring an indicative vote before parliament and ask MP's to vote on what the petition is asking for, so simply put a non binding, free vote to all MP's with the simple question: Should we revoke article 50 and stop the Brexit process? Swiftly followed by a general election. That should focus a few minds.

Yes, the map's probably the most interesting part of the petition. It clearly shows that those signing in the highest numbers exactly mirrors the highest remain voting constituencies from the referendum. In other words the idea that the country is changing its mind on Brexit is demonstrably false. Had I seen huge areas of the country which had originally voted to leave suddenly start signing up to this petition then I may have thought there was some mileage in the claim. As it stands it looks to me like very little, if anything, has actually changed since 2016.

Oh dear, and I always thought the Netherlands was one of the more liberal of the EU states. They must be filling their collective pants in Brussels with the EU election just a matter of months away. An awful lot of EU countries have an age of consent lower than ours. It's 15 in France, and 14 in Germany, so by your reckoning had she come from one of these countries she would have been deemed an adult? On the subject of EU countries maybe one of the other 27 states would like to take her in... I mean we're all 'EU citizens' after all's said and done. I know this because it says so in the Maastricht Treaty.
