  1. Conspiracy Theories? I tried last night and now this AM to sign up to this but it highlights a message saying you haven't completed the process until you respond to the link in your e-mail - so far no email to me to complete this process? 09.09am - out of the blue two identical mails turned up and its now signed - 1700+ now. Given that I think at the height of pistol shooing there were only about 70000 licence holders getting 100,000 will always be a big ask but any time something like this comes along it will get my vote until common sense prevails!
  2. Deckers, I got a car battery from a company called "Performance Batteries" in Tewkesbury a year or so a go, they provided the "next generation" of OEM equipment supplied for my back then VW. They were very helpful on specs and they identified a battery from Bosche with a better Ah rating and exactly the same casing size and details as the original at about 1/3 to 1/2 of the cost cited by the local dealers, RAC or other local outlets. They were very helpful and provided delivery by lunch time the next day. They are at http://www.performancebatteries.co.uk/ Also a search turned up the following: http://www.chiway-battery.com/services.html Hope that may help.
  3. I might be a bit thick but I thought that the Police had spent multi millions of our hard earned £'s to ensure everything was on a new all singing all dancing computerised National Firearms Register, so where does "shredding" come into it? Similarly the ongoing quote hell hath no fury etc infers the involvement of an unhappy lady, I presume there must be more to that so would you like to share so that it may be understood please? Thanks.
  4. The greasy lube is one of the important features of these quality brands of ammo, however if you don't want it, it may easily be removed by melting it off in bulk with the Mrs's hairdryer!
  5. An alternate to the Thermos could be a "Vango" Flask. I got one in 1986 and although its a bit banged around now it is still really good, conditioned with boiling water before re-filling with drink and it will remain hot for 24hrs + It hs one of the screw in tops with a pouring channel that someone mentioned. When I was in the mob filled with just water it did me for a shave, brew and the porridge oats breakfast in a 24hr rat pack whilst other guys were still trying to get their hexi stoves on the go! I think they now do a titanium one if you can afford it an weight is important!
  6. I think the moral of the story is it very much depends on who you encounter and WHERE you visit in the USA. My first experience was in California and they did NOT want to sell me a hunting licence without a HSE qualification. I offered to do it as it was a day but none were scheduled in the area where I was (San Diego) in the end I persuaded a senior trainer that my DSC 1 qual was similar to hunter safety and they looked it up on line and agreed, after that I was allowed a licence but it did take the lions share of a day to sort out! After that I had No problems but did present my SGC/FAC/DSC1 in this first instance. Next time was Texas - they just took the money with no questions at all ? If you are taking your own firearms deal with the ATF well ahead of your travel! Make sure the airline you intend to use (including connecting internal flights) will accept and transport a firearm Let them know so they are expecting you? Good Luck
  7. I remember watching the Vulcans doing circuits over RAF Waddington And a couple of weeks later I built the first 16 of these for the RN: http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNBR_2cm-85_GAM.htm
  8. Underdog, I have a .17Mach 2 and its a great rifle for bunnies. I first shot one in the US in 2004 and was really impressed! The rifle I shot at that time was a Ruger 22/77 that had been re-barreled to .17Mach2 with a Green Mountain barrel. We first shot this at a range at a place called "El Centro" down near the Mexican Border. This was a huge complex with burms and mantlets dividing the differnt ranges all pointing into the danger area of a military bombing range, with ranges from 25yds at least 1000 All sat side by side. First shooting was at 2" diameter Daisy Airgun Clay disk targets (blaze orange) just laid on the bank. At 200yds the wind across that desert plain provided about 12-15inches drift, but the rifle had been shot there previously and elevation was spot on. You could aim off two mil-dots and you would be hitting the clays which typically broke into 3 pieces which you could shoor into smaller pieces. Later on target board at 100yds it was giving dime sized groups with ease. I think it was 2007 before I had the opportunity to buy one here in the UK and now I have a set. .17hm2. .17hmr and .22LR, im my view they all have their place. I'd also like a .22WMR at some time. Here in the UK the .17hm2 has proven very effective on rabbits. If we ever get the opportunity then I'd also like a 5mm Remmington. Whilst shooting with American friends out there, they also got me hooked on wildcat calibres .17Mach4 (a 221 Remington Fireball necked down to .17) and others such as. 20Tactical. To all intents and purposes these are now available commercially in the UK in the guise of .17 Remington Fireball and .204 Ruger. If you go for a .17hm2 I think you will be very pleased. good luck let us know how you get on? http://www.varminter.com/2008/5mmrrm.html http://www.varmintal.net/alink.htm http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15
  9. Just a thought for you.......... IF rifle shooting is a problem because you dont have "competency certificates" you could always take shotguns and do some clay shooting? You dont heed a competency certificate for that unless you are shooting FAC shotgun / slug! If you make your meet up at the right time (as an example the Pheonix meeting in May) there will be a few trade stands and you will get more out of it if you decide you cant shoot - shop instead?
  10. Im very interested in the Rock chucker but would consider the whole lot if the price is right - You have a PM please call me to discuss..... Many thanks, English PS can collect from Coventry...........
