  1. This was originally raises in /December so di your questions get resolved and do you now have an FAC?
  2. Ditchman, Dd you ever complete your refurb or have I missed it in a different thread? If I have missed would you be kind enough to post a link!
  3. Gents thanks for the replies. To try and be clearer, the bathroom is a box room with no window or outside wall. If you imagine the Loo connects into a 100mm pipe (guess on the size) via T piece. the pipe goes down into the ground to the drains. at the other end the pipe heads skywards and the extractor fan vents into it near the top of the bathroom ceiling -on all the time when the bathroom light is on. As the pipe comes up into the loft space it runs along side (in parallel with the same pipe from the flat above the two then join into 1 pipe before venting to the outside world above the roof. She claims the smells from the flat above "Sink" at the Y piece joining the two pipes and then then enter her flat? Personally I think it must be a blockage somewhere as the smells would normally vent to atmosphere? As for the extract fan, this takes air / odours / condensation in the bathroom and puts it in the to pipe foul going down air presumably going up or at least venting above the roof?
  4. On old lady who ifs a friend of my parents and lives in a downstairs flat is having sewage or cooking smells which she believe comes from her neighbours who by all accounts cook a lot of spicy food? To try and overcome this she has had a new vent fan in her bathroom and this has not made any difference? I wasn't surprised at this but she has had people out to look at it and her bathroom vent fan goes into a foul pipe vent which I understand is shared with the neighbouring flat where the two pipes are joined in what sounds like a "trouser piece" or 2 into 1 "Y" Pipe? She would like to have the two pipes separated as she believes the smells are coming down her pipe and back into her flat. As soon as she explains she wants to separate the two pipes the people she has seen want an order jointly from the Landlord of the other flat and her as the owner of her own flat? I feel is something more simple like the vent pipe being blocked but she doesn't believe that. But this is a recent problem and I find myself asking what has changed? Any ideas or links to other forums for help would be appreciated please. Thanks
  5. I purchased one new around 1981 - it was my last present to myself as a bachelor before my hard earned was diverted to things of a more domestic nature. As people have commented they are heavy but what a nice piece of kit! To me this was a big improvement on the Airsporter and the loading directly into the barrel was a significant improvement on the taps of the contemporary underlevers or side-levers of the day? At age 11 got my first Airgun a Milbro in .177, a couple of years later I got a scope to put on it and was bitterly disappointed the jaws around the barrel had worn and so the scope mounted on the cylinder would not align with the barrel and always shot 2 foot low! It came off that and waited until I was an apprentice to buy the Airsporter - no more barrel droop hence began my love of underlevers, My 77 is a great piece of kit, its taken a lot of rabbits, squirrels and even a few head shot hares! I think you will love it. Mine certainly stood the test of time better than the wife, of the two guess which one I kept!
  6. Just seen this, a belated Many Happy Returns. Hope you had a good one and many more to come!
  7. Chipper, Leupold have an excellent reputation for warranty repairs. Since the US Govt introduced export controls on what they regard as "military grade" products, they have imposed regulation on the way companies operate. If you email; their warranty centre with the details of your scope model they will tell you if it is subject to any red tape. They may even direct you to return it to a repair centre outside the US and closer to home. Your scope most likely has a serial No too let them know all the details and I bet they will tell you where to send it and how to get it repaired.
  8. I hope you apply. IF you have been shooting for some time that should say something to your FEO! I would always recommend anyone starting with firearms to Join a club where you will make friends and contacts, get some tuition and guidance and then "add" some experience in a formal way to your shooting. There are a number of good clubs in Lincolnshire, let me know ifyou want some help finding details.
  9. The Met have put up an online satisfactions survey regarding Firearms Licencing issues: http://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/FETLONDON If you live in the Met Area please give them some honest feedback - other forces take their lead from the Met so lets hope they take notice of the feedback they will get to provide a better service?
  10. Lee, When I was on the tools I used pneumatic tools a lot and all of our angle grinders and hand tools were from "Dessouter" I doubt they would have been cheap but were VERY reliable and stood up to hard use day in and out!
  11. Scully, Thanks for the education Mick, whilst I do think such a cut in funding is terrible, I think you have to separate out Licencing - they (the Police) now have the funding which they have demanded and made the case for, amongst the things they do for the public/ I know of people who have waited for renewals in Linc's for nearly a year despite the funding the Police have requested by way of price increases to licence fees. In any event they are now using G4S who take a profit out of the funds they do have - further diminishing the any funding they have from whatever source?
  12. Returning to the UK with Meat https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/531649/Bringing_food_into_the_UK_leaflet.pdf http://hubpages.com/sports/deer-or-elk-trophy-as-airline-baggage https://www.gov.uk/guidance/personal-food-plant-and-animal-product-imports https://www.gov.uk/bringing-food-animals-plants-into-uk/food https://www.gov.uk/guidance/importing-animal-furs-skins-and-fish Your question peaked my interest - in a nutshell it looks like you cant bring ANY meat back (except from the EU or Faro Islands)? Hides must be tanned to an approved spec?
  13. Fat Cat, Never brought anything like that home, but you need to be aware of this: https://cites.org/eng/legislation You should also know that there may be US Legislation on movement of meat / trophy items (between states) in addition to this international certification I don't know who you are doing the hunt with but there are lots of commercial organisations serving the local areas that will process things - professional butchery / taxidermy and returning a complete carcass packaged ready for the freezer / make sausage or burgers on request? I think that you will at the very least need to have you hunting licence, CITES certification and you may need some EU inspired paperwork (trained hunter - food hygiene regs as per DSC) IF you are a member I would ask with BASC or BDS and Perhaps surf a bit at the FSA / DEFRA? Your host in state / ranch / outfitter would probably point you in the direction of the Dept of Fish and Game or relevant state agency along with their preferred meat processing people who are probably familiar with all the requirements ? I would be interested in a definitive answer if you get one? If taking your own rifle - make sure you put in your BAFT paperwork early, clear the transport in advance with you airline. Ammo if you take it is max 5kg per person in original containers PLUS an Aircraft overall limit of 25KG so it is important to get that pre approved. Where in Utah are you going? Whilst in the area view monument valley, the Grand Canyon - north and south rim and if you are close enough check out the four corners? Coming together of 4 states Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico?
  14. Andrew Tucker was a marksman of international repute and sadly died some time ago: http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/opinion/obituaries/article2078662.ece He was more associated with Target Rifle Shooting and in particular produced a range of shooting jackets and accessories for Match/Target Rifle Shooting.
  15. OF, One thing I would suggest is that you contemplate buying a full used set up, or, picking up items as you find them. I have purchased Lee, RCBS, Lyman, Redding and my first press from RCBS has produced many thousands of rounds both Rifle and Pistol calibres. Later another RCBS press a Rockchucker has even enabled the use of Shot shell reloading. I think the only new kit I have has been a couple of die-sets, a set of shell holders and an RCBS Chargemaster. You could use the Lee Loader, however they are calibre specific and a bit labour intensive, there are of course lots of options for you, but if you buy good used kit you will always get your money back if you ultimately decide its not for you. A lot of the people who now purport go load for precision (benchrest go down the route of Sinclair and Harrell Precision) - for the average joe - expensive, slow and a bit specialist. I know some people who now spend more time and money on reloading than they do on the shooting itself. If you have not reloaded then get yourself with an experienced set of hands and take in the knowledge they will share with you. I don't know what calibres you intend to load for but if you shoot small calibres 17s or similar you may need a funnel to get the powder in and when loading small calibres they can be very pressure sensitive (and potentially dangerous). One thing I would recommend anyone to get is neck lubrication brush kit - when I transitioned from pistol to rifle loading I lost lots of new rifle cases through failure to properly lubricate the case neck and then having the sizing mandrel in the die, pick up in the neck and then crush it. I have a lube pad and have tried various lubes including the sprays - when I was in the US a friend put me onto, "imperial sizing wax" its a great lubricant - use it sparingly. Do not over lube inside the case as the lube can degrade the powder, after sizing clean the necks or you may get inconsistent neck tension and hence accuracy? Good luck!
  16. Not sure where you are in Lancashire, however there are a number of clubs that use the TAVRA ranges at Altcar such as: http://www.prestonshooters.org.uk/
  17. http://www.leeenfieldrifleassociation.org.uk/ These sites may be able to help you or the facebook groups: http://www.allaboutenfields.co.nz/history/markings/ Lee Enfield No.4 (T) & .303 Sniper Rifle Owners Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/568882893294723/ Lee-Enfield Rifle Collectors Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/242967846034461/ :
  18. Was that in Cabela's in the US?
  19. Blackpowder, I did this for a friend - look here: http://content.met.police.uk/Site/firearmslicensingoverseasvisitor You can download the forms but I would get them in ASAP as with all licencing issues they may not be quick - Basically its a lot like an FAC application - they want to be sure the person will be safe, they want to be sure the person will have somewhere to shoot nd that any firearms they have will be secure when not in use - they can bring their own guns but in my case my American friend just had access to my firearms.
  20. A look at the American Gunshop this coming Thursday 9pm on Ch 4
  21. Thanks to those of you have signed - please keep it up
  22. Ladies and Gents, A friend on Facebook forwarded me this :https://www.change.org/p/councillor-samantha-rayner-save-maidenhead-target-shooting-club?recruiter=383589440&utm_campaign=signature_receipt&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition About the possibility of a 110 year old club being forced off its range y the Council in Maidenhead. Please sign the Petition and try to help keep them going? Thank you.

    Airsporter

The Airsporter was the first "Adult" airgun I purchased with savings put by from my first few weeks as an apprentice, although I would have liked one in .177, I could never find one and in the end, settled for one in .22. I think you will probably struggle to get one in .177?
  24. I've had one of these since about 1973 - my second airgun in .22. What cay you say - they are young lads airguns - I remember thinking I was stepping up to the "more powerful" .22 after two years with a G23 in .177 and I found it "disappointing" that it did not full penetrate the lattice fencing down the garden and hence the .177 v .22 Argument rages even to this day - with the reduced penetration and the "loopy" trajectory I had a few ricochet back to me and judging hold over was that bit more difficult. I think it you accept it for what it is you will really enjoy it? For me having one (with the expectations I had before getting it) I was a bit disappointed and it set me on a quest for .177 under levers such as an Original 50 or HW77 - however looking back now I have some very happy memories of shooting with my G77. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Just be careful about any splash-back?
