busdennis
this afternoon noticed alot of woodies (30+) sat on an hedgerow behind the field i was trying to decoy. does anybody put dummies on an hedge row and can you use shells or just fullbody decoys. also would they sit facing the same way so they can take off into the wind or be facing all over the place denny Edited October 2, 2009 by busdennis
Cranfield
I sometimes put decoys on the top of hedgerows, or low trees near my hide. Full bodied decoys are the best to use, as they provide the silhouette shape you need. Birds don't seem to like to sit with their backs to any significant wind ( a light breeze is OK), perhaps its uncomfortable for them. If its windy I have them facing the wind, if its not that windy I have them in any position.
Toombsy
Ditto the above. I have placed two or three decoys on top of hedgerows when I want to attract the attention of birds on a flightline that's cutting across land that I can't shoot over, and that's worked. Crow decoys work on hedgerows too.
Billy.
Look up 'lofting poles' on google. That might be of interest
THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
I use a few in a hedge, bush or tree then a few on the ground.
anser2
If possible I put a lofter in a tree ( when the leaves are off ) and sometimes along a fence line . I have never had much success with plastic decoys in a hedge , but on occasion done well with 4 or 5 dead pigeons with their wings spread laying on top of a low thick hedge , along plactic decoys on the field in the usual manner. henry d
I agree with the above posts, however I only use one or two in a hedge, just to catch the eye of passing birds. It also works with deeks on a bale too.
pigeon controller
It a good ploy to put decoys on a hedge, it works well with fliers the wrong way into wind also bales are good places to decoy as anything that improves the visability of your decoys.
