I'm not sure why anyone buys cartridges online.

I have always found my ocal shop to be cheaper than the online price and thats befor the delivery has been added on, making the online price even higher.

What do others find?

I buy from Just Cartridges and had 2000 delivered on Tuesday this week, after phoning on Monday morning.

I bought 2000 Gamebore White Gold XLR, 12ga, 24gm, 7.5.

The cost me £141.75 per 1000 + £27.50 delivery (£15 for the first 1000 + £12.50 for the next 1000)

My nearest Gunshop charges £140 per 1000 for the same cartridges and its an 80+ mile round trip.

Thats why I buy from Just Cartridges.

Yikes, and I thought we were out in the sticks!

Buy from a local RFD if you can. Most of them stock cartridges not to make lots of money on them but to get you in the shop and buy something else.

Just Cartridges are £10 per thousand more expensive than my RFD, and they're a 20 min drive away, I go there a few times a year and buy a couple of thousand each time at least. Was there last week to buy 3k before the price rises take effect.

Makes the transaction £70 cheaper than online. Well worth a few quid in fuel.

For some wildfowling cartridges, mail order is really the only economical option unless you live within 100 miles of a stockist.

For example, Forseys in Kent is the only place I can get the Express Hevi-shot cartridges I use for geese at a reasonable price, and an 800 mile round trip would be out of the question. About 3 years' supply cost me £150 including postage. My local (40 mile round trip) shop quoted £220 and a 4 week wait for the same quantity.

But for clay or game cartridges, where you might be buying in thousands, then any reasonably local cartridge cash and carry is probably the best bet. My nearest is in Edinburgh but, more locally, the agricultural merchants tend to beat the gunshops on price.
