Chard
Good luck with the Cod, chap Doesn't look like our Cod season is going to materialise up here again, after a promising start. There should be a few about up here by now, but it's rubbish

I heard a few early reports from Lancashire and the Mersey Estuary of 3-6lb Codling in September, but they appear to have fizzled out. It's just small Whiting, Dabs, Dogs and Flounders now. Yes, and Bass
MC
It was like that here as well Chard, Late september the Thames Estuary was full of 3-4lb codling, yet early october there was nothing. We were out on monday and had a good day, I hade 4 cod up to 5lb and a roker of just under 7lb. Total on the boat was over 30 cob with the largest being 7 3/4lb. There were also lots of whiting and pouting and only two spotty dogs which was a bonus.

Tadorna
Can I ask a question, and this is by no means an accusation and should not be taken as one. Why is it that some fisherman are content to carry their bait and grub to the beach and then bury the packaging etc and think it is gone? I live near Shingle Street and am often on the beach with my dog. He is forever finding left over bait and food covered with Shingle. I know this is from fisherman because it is always in a spot where I have seen them the night before. I am not tarring everyone with the same brush and having a go at fisherman. People who leave cartridge cases where they have been shooting are as bad. As are people who fly tip and litter in the street. I think I have just answered my own question. Some people are pigs whether they fish, shoot or walk in the street. Hope you enjoyed your fishing.
mick miller
That's the nail hit on the head, I take everything away with me whether fishing or shooting. Sadly some people seem not to realise that littering quickly turns areas of beauty into a toilet. It really does seem even more of a problem with today's urban yoof. I live near a school and on the journey to work during school times I really notice the difference in discarded coke cans, wrappers and other stuff. I also frequently see them dropping stuff where they stand. Perhaps we need a campaign of 'keep Britain tidy' as of yesteryear, or perhaps just berate them as the morons they are? Tadorna
I spend my whole life picking up other peoples litter. The really sad things is the looks I get whilst doing it. Apologies for hi jacking the thread.
