whitehackle
made my first mistake!!! I sized and de-primed the brass and then primed it again. after doing this Iv found that I havnt sized the brass right, Iv only dont 10 rounds so if I have to fire the primers Im not that botherd but I just wanted to ask if I could de-prime them again and re use the primers? If i was careful. would there be any risk that the primers could go off if I do this? thank you for looking
garyb
You can safely de-prime with the sizing die... Just take it a tad easier, and observe the usual safe handling of primers (safety glasses) I've used - "re-cycled" primers before, with no issue. Harnser
For how much they cost I would shoot them off and not pr@t about de-capping live primers . They may go off or you may damage them so that they wont go off the next time you want to shoot them . Harnser . macca
Hi, Ive decapped hundreds without any going off - push the primer out slowly. As said prviously the recycled primers work fine. Cheers
ricky green
dont now if it the done thing, but cant you wind the decapping pin out of the way and resize them jobs a good un.
Rem223
dont now if it the done thing, but cant you wind the decapping pin out of the way and resize them jobs a good un. I have done this before when using brass from different rifles in the same calibre. Full length resizer die. Take out the decapping pin assembly and away you go. Works a treat but I would still advise wearing safety glasses.
Vince Green
is it really worth all the trouble for ten primers?
njc110381
I've just deprimed 100 live cases with no trouble. They shouldn't go off. I have a tube that catches the spent primers and as a precaution I emptied it every ten rounds (if one goes you don't want the other 99 to follow suit!). Also wear safety glasses. I wouldn't re-use them. What's the point in risking reliability for the cost of a primer?

jamie g
i got a decapping die any problems and you dont have to mess about adjusting the neck or full lenght sizer. what did you do wrong when resizing ?

The rod is also an expander of the neck as you work the brass back out the die. You should leave the pin in when resizing brass as it re-expands the case mouth to .002" under the size of calibre ie a .224" will size to .222". It dose this job perfectly on extraction of the case & a bullet is a very poor expander tool for home loading. In Lee dies it is knowen as there X-expander. Back to the real question & yes the primer can be reused but im with harnser for all the cost of them just resize & ditch them its only 10 primers.
