Peter De La Mare
Compaq/Sportrap/5 stand is fun indeed, some say it's sporting for lazy people, but you need to have your wits about you for the pairs. The 'menu' in front of each stand will give you the sequence. For the simo pair (normally the last two birds in the stand) means you need to have examined each bird and worked out which one to take first. Sometimes it's easy, more often than not it isn't and can really mess up your round. Edited November 23, 2009 by Peter De La Mare
beretta
study the menu and really think about it.
100milesaway
Watch how the person in the stand in front of you takes the simo pairs, if he misses it may well be worth taking them the other way round or even just slightly quicker. from Auntie
SSS
Personally, I tried it myself and didn't enjoy it. Each to their own. As said, follow the instructions in the stand and you cant go wrong
mrbritish1976
how does the scoreing work is it right on the singles you get 2 shots to break the single also is it just 2 shots per peg or more? sorry if this is a stupid question but ive never watched a whole round all the way through. Peter De La Mare
Yup, full use of the gun on singles. 1 point per kill regardless if it's a 2nd barrel kill. Depending on the setup... you'll have 3 singles and a report pair (easy) or 3 singles and a simo pair or 1 single, a report pair and simo pair. The Sportrap version (official CPSA version) will nearly always be a single followed by a report and simo pair. Probably. Catamong
Compak is the International version which is shot overseas. As Pete says, in this Country, the nearest thing to it is Sportrap. On some Compak layouts overseas, they will very often have only one single bird, followed by 2 pairs of simmo targets, just to make it harder. Cat. There's bound to be someone around to guide you through it, Competition is exciting, really gets you thinking Yes, the important thing is that you learn from it, as there's always a right and a wrong way to shoot the simmo pairs. That's where these competitions are won and lost. Cat.
Gordon R
Cat - have to agree about the pairs. I have watched and then shot Compak and wondered why people shot simmo pairs in a certain order. They generally tend to watch which way others shoot them and follow suit without thinking whether it is the right way. VicW
I shoot a lot of Compak/Compact/Sportrap and thoroughly enjoy it.You see all the birds before you start but only from whatever cage you are in so as you change cages the presentation of the birds changes as well.It is almost 25 different birds.I shoot a fair bit at Orston and the owner has a nasty knack of putting on a Sportrap layout where one of the sim pairs really has you guessing which one to go for first.OK for the youngsters with good reflexes and eyes like s--t house rats but us old scrotes have to consider sacrificing one bird to guarantee getting the other one.
