My new baby

Howdy folks,i was ment to stick this up on saturday after i got home with the gun but due to a seriously dodgy broadband router i was'nt able to do so until today :hmm:

My love affair with the 682 began with my mate getting one as a replacement for a browning cynergy-i was with him when he got it from the gunshop it was a 30" sporter with an adjustable stock, the owner of the shop fitted the gun to suit my mate with the aid of a laser in the top barrel when he was finished setting the gun up for him i tried mounting the gun up to my shoulder and it fitted me 100% The next time i tried the gun was shooting a 15 bird dtl at an open shoot i shot 145ex150 which i thought was fairly good and the clays i hit i really powdered so me thinks oh no im gonna have to buy myself one of these because i dont have a dedicated clay shotgun which i do want ;)

I priced about 15 different dealers and have to say there was a huge difference between some of them-the cheapest was €600 less than one of the dealers i rang  I ordered in the one i wanted with the best priced fella-a 682 gold e 30" sporter with bevertail forend and the adj memory stock. The firearms licencing system here in the republic is changed this year to a new one so it took ages for me to get my licence for the 682-4 months to be precise :hmm:

I finally got the licence last week and went to pick my new gun up i have to say i was a bit nervous opening the beretta packaging because i hadnt yet seen what the wood looked like and i am fussy when it comes to things like that  I was plesently surprised to find it had lovely dark oiled walnut and nicely figured too,it surprisinly didnt have a rubber recoil pad but a wooden walnut butt pad but the dealer through in a gel-tec pad as part of the deal but i do like the look of the wooden one it gives it a nice different look and having shot 50 or so shells through it so far it doesnt kick bad at all.

The chequring on the pistol grip and forearm are different to other 682's i have seen in that its like a silver pigeon rather than the usual oval shaped chequring on 682 golds the dealer said it was the first one he seen like it-but both agreed it offered a lovely amount of grip

Cash handed over and i left the shop and headed the 150 miles to the chap that fitted my mates 682,he too was surprised at the different chequring but liked it too,the stock had to be raised a good bit to suit my mount and cast to the left slightly but when it was done i was bringing the gun up pin point on a target about 20yards away at the other end of the shop.I got home and got my friend to fire a few clays out of the automatic trap i hit 24 out of 25 tough sporting type targets including really low fast crossers that i used to struggle to hit with my silver pigeon. All in all im very happy with it and cant wait to take part in my first comp with it later this month :)

Heres some pic's of it and the rest of my current(expensive) collection!

You're a lucky man.....

I love the look of the Extrema, I have two O/U's, not in the same league as yours I hasten to add, but I am chewing on getting myself a semi auto. What do you think of it?

They might'nt be in the same price catagory as mine cosd but i bet yours do just as good a job :hmm:

The extrema is a fantastic gun it really is i have fired a load of shells down through it from 28grm trap shells at clays to 34grm game shells game shooting when the weather is too **** to bring my silver pigeon, and the brutal 63grm 3.5" magnum shells at foxes while lamping and it has not had a single fault since i got it well over a year ago.

When i say its been in **** weather i do mean it-the new aqua coating thats on them really does keep corrosion at bay my old 391 ulrika would rust like mad if not totally dried out and oiled the extrema's a good bit tougher :hmm:

Beautiful gun,Mark. :D

Thanks bb :o

wow the thought of your renewals is giving me heart failure!

nice collection, im still waiting for my pi**ing .22

Yup it was fairly stressful-45 pages of forms to fill in then 4 months of waiting then had to pay €400 for the renewals!Least its done and dusted for another 3 years.Btw i had to wait a year for my 1st rifle licence

You,ll be wanting me to pop back over and show you how to shoot clays with it then Mark :good::lol:

My Extrema has still only had 25 shells through it ;)

Nice collection your building there

Your more than welcome back mate anytime you want  You can send me over instructions on how you go about shooting clays!

I had mine out on the 1st day of the season over here its the 1st of november,i shot two cock pheasants and a woodcock with it...its not a bad gun to use when theres a lot of walking involved there actually not that heavy of a gun for the size of them. Will you get out at all over the christmas hols do you think??

Nice New Gun Mark - i used to have one ( but with the black action) and it shot fantastic ( it went up in flames, when i lost a good mate in a car crash unfortunately) - dont worry about Jeff coming over, i think he's given up shooting

That is a tragedy mm it really is very sorry to hear that...to loose a good mate and having your gun destroyed aswell, but least your gun could be replaced

Dont think jeff would give up the deer stalking and shooting with the nv that easy! Come to think of it i do miss jeffs write-ups about the trips out with the 243 and archer!

Very nice Mark :good: i like the darker stocks with a good bit of grain :o

Happy dusting ;)

Cheers rob :D The dark wood is nice alright

Lovely gun, I have wanted one for a while, ah well I can still dream!

Where in Ireland did you get the gun fit? I need two guns fitted but dont know where to go.

Thanks

Peter

Mayo

Hi peter

I got the gun fitted by a lad in mountnugent in Cavan he really knows his stuff when it comes to clay shooting and gun fit  While i was in with him a lad arrived that was after traveling from clifden to try and check the gun fit on a perazzi he was after buying.People come from all over to him-that says a lot about the man.

If your gun has to be cast or the stock dropped or raised you will have to leave the gun with him because i dont think he does it inhouse, thats the joy of an adjustable stock its very easy to set the gun up to your eyes.

If ya need any more info peter just drop me a pm
