NIKON SCOPES

Although in reality, they are not rolls royce. Side by side, they are sub leupold quality but also sub leupold price so maybe good value, maybe not.

It depends on which Leupold and which Nikon you're comparing (and of course your own eyes). I have a monarch, dad has a pair of buckmasters (I think fieldmaster in this country). I also have a leupold. To my eye the buckmasters are the best quality/value in scopes out there (with the Bushnell 3200 on the same level). Very clear glass and pretty inexpensive for the quality you're getting. I would rate them better than the VX2 from Leupold, and close to the VX3. The Monarch are better glass and crystal clear. I rate them better than a VX3, even through they are 20-30% cheaper. One thing that I would give the Nikons a negative mark for is eye relief on higher mag. The zone of relief is fairly short when you crank up the power. I see that on my 6-24x50. On lower powers (18 and under) it isn't a problem.

If you can get a Monarch for cheaper than Uttings are selling them, then they are a good buy for their price.

Thanks

Rick
