mr lee
I would **** myself if I landed one of these! Think I would ask my fishing mate to unhook it because I would just cut the damned line without lifting it onto the shore. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/20...giantcrabs.html 'Yet others welcome the red king crab, saying its delicious taste and size—the crabs can grow to 22 pounds (10 kilograms) and measure 4.9 feet (1.5 meters) across—make it an extremely lucrative catch. In the United States the crab's meaty legs fetch around $25 per pound.'
Delbert
Well if they are they seem to be taking their time thats a very old story you can watch the crab fishermen on 'Deadliest Catch' in the Bering Sea taking a huge crop of them cracking programmes . I am sure they would be happy to switch to fishing in the North Sea. The Crabs are unlikely to be around the British shores as they are deepwate r beasties that don't like tidal areas mind the crafty Norwegians have a nice industry catching them with a quota so it doesnt look like they want to reduce the stocks despite scare stories. scolopax
King crabs are expanding their range south along the Norwegian coast after being introduced by the Russians to there own artic waters. It is not out of the question that they will make it to UK waters.
