Tracing Lost Relatives

I know this is a bit of a strange request but the information i have gained from this forum and the wide range of members on here i thought it might be worth a go.

To cut the story short i am trying to find/trace a lost relative, i have tried all the conventional methods and the internet and i even used a couple of agencies all to no avail.

He was from Sheffield originally trained in Bristol and spent time in Australia, from what i have heard he is now in Scotland but this is only hear say.

Thank you for your time in reading this and if any members can help, then please PM me :hmm:

This is not too strange for a request.

I taught a night school class on family history last year and a lady turned up with the same sort of request!

192.com is a reasonable place to start, it uses phone directories and electoral roll records

An classified advert in a popular scottish paper personal column??

Are they likely to be on Friends Reunited?? or Facebook??

Is he likely to be a member of the university alumni association where he studied??

I tried 192.com and came up with a few names but none stated Dr.

Facebook and friends reunited didnt turn anything up either.

It doesnt help where he was David John ****** ******* but then for some reason started using John as his first name.

Cheers for all the help so far :welcomeani:

I feel like i have exhausted the internet looking

Just because it doesn't say dr doesn't mean it isnt him, most drs won't use their title in something as public as the telephone directory. Give them a call orwrite to them. We did this when completing our family tree and most were really helpful.
