I had a b2 that cost me £50 new with a 4x32 on it. If you strip it down polish the parts and put a new breech seal in they are ok guns. The fire around 7-8 lbs so nothing major. Good fun for cans and starting with but deffinatly not for hunting. You can fit a ox bsa lightning spring which will take it too 12lbs with a few coils lopped off but it will kick like a mule and you will hate it. Great for picking at a great price but deffo not a huting tool.

I have the SMK QB78, bit rough n ready, but a good buy for the money, even better now I fettled it,well worth the effort, now boasts 11.5lb ft.

Some pics -

Damn, those internals look pro mate :welcomeani:

Don't fancy doing a bit of work on my HW98's barrel do you?

Like Tony, I bought one and polished the insides. Mine's a .177, and with a few mods (instructions on the net) it went from 5.5lb/ft to 11.25lb/ft with a good 50 shots from a couple co2's. With a weirauch silencer fitted I've shot rabbits, crows, rats and squirrels with it - and a whole lot of fun.

I had 2 QB78s, one in .22 and one in .177

I tuned the .22 using the T R Robbs Tuning kit (£52.00 ish with trigget kit) and it turned out to be a great gun, in fact I had to de-tune to 11.5 ft/lbs it as it was turning out 14.5 ft/lbs. The gun was quite accurate and would take rabbits out easily at 35 yards.

The .177 hasn't been worked on and is putting out about 8 ft/lbs and sits in the corner with a set of JSR 6-24 X 50 scopes on it and only comes out for a bit of rat shooting. It's a perfect gun for the job!

If you do chose to get a SMK (CO2 powered) gun I would suggest you get the one that takes the larger CO2 cylinder as opposed to the QB78 which takes 2 x 12gram cylinders and if you want to use it for live quarry get it tuned!

All in all I think they are good value for money!

You have to be realistic, and the reality is that they offer good value for money.

If you are talking live quarry then a little work would be advised...so up goes the price, that being the case perhaps consider something a little better to start with!!
