One shot wonder
Just wandering which type of hide you prefer, well and i wanted to find out how these polls worked.
ernyha
Can,t really vote on that one mate as each type of hide has it,s own time and place. Normally use a net hide in front of a hedgerow but if there is enough natural stuff about it is always good to use this even though a net is usually added as well. As far as bale hides, they are great when available on the stubble and enable you to set up in the middle of the field but even then I use a desert net to link them up and complete the hide. Cranfield
I agreewith ernyha, "horses for courses". But, if the question was which hide do I use the most, I would vote for the cammo net, so I will.
gasman
My net hide is made from 5 poles (a la John Batley - with a forward vee) and uses a green/brown forest pattern made of the military style camo netting but without the background netting (if you see what I mean ). This makes it less robust but a good deal lighter than the true military stuff.
ernyha
On Cranfields vote of which hide do you use the most then my vote will have to be net as I can,t remember never having used one.
Pigeon Pieman
Up til this year I have only ever used natural hides - including hiding in a ditch covered with straw I have brought two 'nets' that aren't nets. They are a synthetic fabric with holes in - very light and very effective. I'll use them for a few weeks to see how they perform. One is in 'woodland' and the other is 'stubble'. Cranfield
Pieman, I think I have one of the "nets" you refer to. They are fine, until the wind blows. The holes are too small for the wind to pass through the "net" and it just blows it in. You need a pole at every 12" to hold it straight. Together with my naff hide poles, this "net" was a waste of money.
dead-eye-dick
..........And you can't see through them....... it's lucky I'm invisable...more so the more I drink... :S
Pigeon Pieman
Oddly, the surface area of the holes is larger than the fabric! I'll post a picture. With a white background it should show what I mean
One shot wonder
I know what you meen about different hides for different sittuations but what i meant in the poll is what hide do you use most.

Hammergun
Net hide is my usual choice, but if I could have anything, it would be a natural hide.
andrew
advantage realtree camo mesh is the best...it`s light ,it`s easy to carry and it`s see through (for us).the best i`ve ever used.
Cranfield
andrew, what happens when the wind really blows ? Its my experience that the close weave nets, bow in on the shooter, unless you put a hide pole every 12". The old "Army style" nets allow most of the wind to pass through the mesh, without disturbing the hide.
ernyha
Adding to Cranfield,s reply , which he well knows I agree with.get your mate to sit behind your net and step out amongst your deacs. and look at your hide. Unless he is wearing full cammo gear and you have a near perfect backdrop you will see him quite clearly. 8-)
