Ozzy Fudd
i see what you mean, but thing was they asked why i needed the two guns - if id just said long range vermin they could have said "then you dont need a 22 as the 17 will do it all". they actually did comment on that, so i had to go into detail about wanting to use mod and subbies on the 22 for shooting near houses and livestock (and then the fun that that started), and then i thought it best to explain about foxes for the 17 as well i probably could have worded a few things better, but to be totally honestly my head was a bit fried with trying to think what was best to say to justify everything, everytime i said something they hit me with about 3 more questions, but, culd have been worse i suppose
al4x
close to horses and livestock and noise is the best argument. Some FEO's acknowledge the HMR packs more punch some just think smaller bullet less punch there is an awful lot of ignorance out there so generally best to treat them like it. Less information is usually better than too much

Short and long range pest control sounds ok normally vermin control but I dont think it will make a difference as your feo will put that right when he comes out to see you. Your permission it all depends if it has been checked before but even if it hasnt 600 acres of pure flat fields would be ok for rimfire, it all depends on the layout of the land to wether they will all pass. tweedledee
Rab, remember .17 over here is not a calibre that is allowed to shoot foxes, minimum calibre is .222 or .223 nonsense,i had my hmr added a few months back for fox only
mayfly36
Yes nonsense, but this is what i was told when i enquired.
Dekers
Yes nonsense, but this is what i was told when i enquired. It is nonsense, but this debate rages on and on, the Home Office does not recommend Rimfire for Fox, but my .22lr, HMR and WMR are ALL conditioned for fox, so are many other peoples....then you get the regions that just refuse it point blank......consistancy would be useful!!
