mayfly36
Guys, feo coming out tomorrow AGAIN, as he failed to show 2 weeks ago. But I have a bit off a conundrum. I applied for a .22 rimfire and a .223 centrefire, but ive lookad and done some research on the .22 and have decided to change my mind and go for a .17. Does anyone know whether the feo could change this for me when he comes to visit, or am i too late.
Ozzy Fudd
ask him mate, he should be able to do it no problem. i told you about those two i had last week, they changed my application so i could use the moderator on both guns Edited March 9, 2010 by Ozzy Fudd
blister
i went for a .22lr when my feo came he advised me to have the .17hmr as they were puting foxes on the list for a .17hmr happy days never looked back
mayfly36
nice one, but the 223 i have asked for is for foxes, so now i need a reason for the .17 instead off the .22 which was for vermin control.

Lack of unwanted and dangerous ricochets. Don’t forget the sound moderators.
Alpha Mule
223 will blow the bunnies apart, so you need the hummer for pot-state rabbit.
mayfly36
Actually thats what i was or near enough what i was planning to say and that the bunnies were to be fed to the dog, which they will be, ricochets was the main reason for changing my mind, moderators were applied for on original application. Glensman
Just say .223 causes excessive meat damage. I think at the price of ammo you'll have more fun with the .22lr mate than the 17 HMR.
blackbird
Why dont you ask him for a .22LR .17HMR. & a 223CF .22lr lamping, .17HMR day time longer range rabbit control & .223CF foxing rifle job done. shot shot
Why dont you ask him for a .22LR .17HMR. & a 223CF .22lr lamping, .17HMR day time longer range rabbit control & .223CF foxing rifle job done. because judging by their reputation, they would look at you like you've two heads, and you may end up getting nothing good luck btw mate
Glensman
and im pretty sure lamping (game, rabbits) is against the law this side of the water.

Glensman
basically if you can eat it you cant shoot it an hour before sundown or after sun-up. Foxes you can shoot anytime...
shot shot
copied from BASC website Northern Ireland: The following may not be shot on Sundays or on Christmas Day, under the Wildlife Order NI, the Game Preservation (Amendment) Act (NI) 2002, the Wildlife Order as amended and game act 1831, etc Pest birds Game in season Rabbits Deer Mammalian pest control ie foxes and small vermin (rat, mouse, grey squirrel etc) there is no prohibiton on Sundays. Odd that, I'm fairly sure that rabbits can be taken with a high capacity shotgun (therefore not game) but then they can't be taken on sundays (like game)
Ozzy Fudd
as far as i know they can be, you just point and pull the trigger like a normal shotgun... shooting them at nights a big no no, foxes must be ok, but im not sure why it keeps sticking in my mind they arent

Especially if you were to claim destruction of crops...

Colster
I'd go for HMR as an addition rather than in place of LR. They both have benefits over the other, ok so your FEO won't care that an LR is cheap to run but you can't beat it for quietness
mayfly36
Things went ok, i hope, had to give info on past etc, how long ive had shotgun license, any other convictions etc, road offences, so looks like its gonna be another 3 months before i hear anything thats going by what was said by the feo as it DOES go back to the head bucko to look over and make the decision. Im not feeling too confident to be honest as i had my permit revoked 12 years ago and have had it back only over a year now, but saying that ive had 2 shotguns within 3 months off receiving it back. So this shouldnt be a issue, although they are rifles as such that ive applied for. No questions were asked about why i wanted the calibres, NOTHING AT ALL which dosent add up at all. monkeyboots
mayfly dont think uve anything to worry about cos if they had any quams about you they never would of given you back a FAC so if you can be trusted with a shotgun then theres no difference cos its a rifle as long as you show the need for it
