hiya guys.

right got out on the muntjac today :welcomeani:

woke up at 3:00 AM thismorrning and i was buzzing, gotta coffee down my neck and got ready and got picked up at 4:00. nice clear motorways all the way wich was nice, so we stopped got a cuppa and carried on.

arived at about 6:30 to jason's (muntjac stalkers) place. i couldnt belive my eyes, its a hunters dream!!!!! as we drove up the drive way we saw 2 bucks and a doe, hundreds of pheasents, geese, hundreds of pigeons and the mythical hare! (heard about them but never ever seen one :hmm: i thought you guys were makeing them up hehe.)

quick cuppa and a fag and we was off, drove a short distance and parked up on a track and got out. we saw loads of deer as we was walking the remander of the track but couldnt get in close enougth as they were off.

walked a few fields but didnt see much, apart from a muntjac popping up about 10 feet in frount of us and bolting lol, didnt arf scare us lol.

dropped back into some woodland and had a short stalk but it was not to be as there was just too much bracken etc in the way so we couldnt get a clean shot, then the deer decided it was time to run lol.

walked a bit further through the woods and we came to a feed hopper about 60 yard ahead of us, and feeding were 3 does . got coffy againts a tree and lined up a shot, the mins felt like hours and the heart was raceing, but finally a shot presented it self, BLAM!!!!!!! bloody hell that guns loud lol. the doe ran about 20-30 yards and she was down. gutted on the spot, dropped at the car and back out.

had about an hour and a half with not much happening, a few half stalks but nothing major. we was just about to call it a day when we decided to walk back through some woodland back to the car, and what did we see?? a buck and a doe!!! decided on the doe, again from a tree lind up the shot and BLAM!!!! (ready that time lol  ) anouther doe down.

so finished with two doe's, a happy guide and 2 hapy shooters

i would 100% recommend jason's (muntjac stalker) days out as he is a genuine fella, good laugh and defo knows what hes doing. :P

deffinately going back :P

thanks again matey.

I had mine skinned and butchered in under an hour, which for the first go I am happy. I kept the offal, so will make venison steak & kidney pie with the little rump steaks, kidneys and some of the meat from shoulder/front legs. I'll make Nick's pate with the liver, well what's left of it as I ate some on Friday.

I like the look of the roast muntjac haunch in the recipe section here, so will do that in the week, and today I will cook the loin fillets, medium rare like a good steak.

I'll probably mince and freeze the rest for later, burger making and more pies I think.
