Jaminzx7r
Once again one of my dog's has found a pile of Fox poo and had a whale of a time rolling in it on their walk through the local woods this morning. She's been hosed down and shampood twice but there definately still a sh!tty wiff about her. No idea what shampoo i've used, it's a dog shampoo but it's old and the label has worn off. Anyone got any good tips/products that are good for getting rid of the smell. Edited March 27, 2010 by Jaminzx7r
bail
I ve heard tomato sauce is good for fox poo. Rub it into the coat and remove the excess. Then wash the dog. Never tried it though so cant confirm it works.
J@mes
Don't laugh but we use Johnsons Evening primrose oil to wash our mutt - she loves rolling in fox poo, and it gets the stench out fine!
Tank
We use a shampoo that's just called "Animal Shampoo". If you google it, you'll find it for under £30 a gallon (smaller sizes are available). It's for horses, dogs, cows (I'll admit, I've no intention of shampooing a cow), etc... It's brilliant, gets rid of the smell of fox jobbies and for weeks after they'll smell of shampoo when they get wet. It also brings up their coat a treat. Hope this helps. Jaminzx7r
Super, thanks people. As I dont have any evening primrose oil or "animal shampoo" to hand I've just tried the tomato sauce thing plus another application of the shampoo i've got. She's made me laugh, she did look a sight covered in tomato sauce. I'll smell test her in a little while. She's gone off to bed for a sulk and a warm up. I'll stock up on the primrose oil and animal shampoo for next time.
J@mes
Sorry, didn't explain too well - the Johnsons evening primrose oil is actually a dog shampoo - we got it from our local petshop!

Tank
Pressure washer? The old collie loves the pressure washer. She snaps at the water as it comes out of the nozzle. It's only a cheapie one so it doesn't chop her head off and I won't set it to a single point, just the fan when she's in the garden.

activeviii
to late now as he has rolled in it but my dog keeps cocking his leg ever 2 seconds and scenting all the time. the guy i take my pup to for training says that when he dose this i have to pee over my dogs pee to show im top dog and not him. maybe you need to do what your dogs doing as he is trying to mask the foxes scent so you need to do it as well. Wesman
Tommy sauce 100% works. My old springer loved rolling in fox shi'ite and it was the only think that worked. Plus you could dip your chips on him.

Cushat
Cover your dog in aftershave. The smeel stays on them for days and hey hate it.Did this with one of my dogs and she never rolled in poop again!!Real detterant. So how did the dog relate rolling in fox poo to being covered in aftershave? I pressume you don't carry a bottle of Brut in your pocket when out walking so you can immediately splash some on the dog when it rolls in fox poo?? Dogs live in the here and now. Splashing aftershave over a dog once you get back home will be no deterant as the dog will not link the two events. Stupidest thing I've read for ages.
