  1. Driving an old car as a first cat isn't sensible, but it does teach you a lot about motoring. I started off in a 1955 Austin A30 which had no seatbelts, 28 horsepower and no real brakes. I learned to double declutch, plan my braking, cope with cross ply tyres and always cancel an indicator as there was no auto cancel. I also learned that nobody notices a trafficator any more so turning right at a roundabout was a little like Russian roulette. After six months of that I progressed to a 1959 A35 which had flashing indicators and had had seatbelts added. I drove this car until I was 24. I did all of the repairs on it myself and learned a hell of a lot in the process. I'm not saying I'm the Stig, but I'm reasonably handy in the twiddly bit. My opinion is that if you survive driving an old car as a first car, you'll be better off for it, but pre 1974 vehicles didn't have anywhere near the safety features of a "modern" car (post 1990). Good luck with whichever way you decide to go and above all, enjoy it.
  2. Really nice bloke to deal with, thanks again!

  3. Wow! The air rifle came complete with a muzzle and everything. I wanna get me one of those. :-D
  4. I got mine years ago at uni. A couple of guys on my floor were mucking about with a rugby ball and they threw it to me. I ran at them and pushed them both backwards. One of them said "he's like a ******* tank!", and the name stuck. I even have it on my car reg plate now.
  5. Good work Edd, hope you enjoy it. All the best, Tank
  6. I'll be there with the lass. Not sure if we'll be there from Wednesday morning or save two days holiday and get there Thursday night. Looking good for U2 this year! Not so keen on the other probable headliners though.

    Worth a Donation

I probably shouldn't say what sort of donation I'd give Kate.

    iPhone update

Looks good in safari on mine. As mentioned by someone else, no more zooming. Very tidy, good work PW!
  9. Surely the ejector springs are compressed when the gun is closed anyway, whether the gun has been "fired" or not?
  10. You can also reset the sear lifter by flicking the safety on and back off again. Saves you bouncing the gun.
  11. It could also be to do with the cartridges you are using. Even ones that look to be the same spec e.g. 28g 7.5s may have different burn characteristics and therefore different recoils. I used a load of Hull carts that were quick, but had half the recoil of a slower cart with a different burn rate but the same spec on the box. Try a few different ones and see which kicks least.
  12. Cheers Reefcat and Dunkield. I'll give him a buzz in the morning. Thanks again, Tank
  13. I've been recommended to go to a chap in Englefield near Reading, but I can't find any details on tinterweb in order to give him a buzz and see when he's open so I can drop the gun in. Does anybody know his details? Any info at all gratefully received. Thanks, Tank

    skull?

Surely one comes free inside every foxes head?
  15. The grip is phenominall!! It even goes upside down.
  16. These are exactly what I'm looking for. Where abouts are you? I don't get down your way very often so may have to pass.
  17. This software ended up banning pictures of Murray Walker, Duncan Goodhew and Tony Greig as there was too much "flesh tone" in their photos.
  18. I saw a few different ones when I was out walking the dogs yesterday, bit I'm never sure which ones are edible and which ones could be poisonous. Does anyone know of a good set of guidelines I could use? Cheers, Tank
  19. Totally agree. The taller the tyres, the higher the diff is off the ground. Do you loose much turning circle on the 35s? I'm on 33s at the moment with no loss of steering.
  20. I can't see any reason why this would be a problem. As long as you stick to the pressure limits and don't use liquid nitrogen, just pressurised at somewhere near room temperature, you should be fine. Nitrogen is inert and air is about 78% nitrogen from memory so I really can't see a problem with corrosion. Just make sure you don't freeze the gun and make parts brittle. Good luck, Tank
  21. I used to see NO W111Y (NO WILLY) round here on an Aston Lagonda (the squashed Volvo looking one). I've got T8NK and then my initial on my car. I've also seen T4NK and the same initial on a very similar car to mine. Spooky
  22. You could try these guys: http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/CAM-SUZUKI__W0QQ_armrsZ1 I've no idea if they are any good or not though.
