night owl
well since it is a nice evening i decided to keep the windows open first i had a pigeon fly into to the big tree then 10 minutes later a magpie turned up so had him to he is down but fallen into the top of the cunnifers so no pitcher of him these were taken at about 17 yards pigeon had its back to me so was taken very cleanly do not think i would have taken the shot if it had the chest towards me
markyboy
here mate,i shoot pigeons but that pigeon you shot was probably paired up and in the middle of building a nest. i have 2 pigeons nesting in my garden but i dont feel the need to go a shoot them. i save that for out in the field where they have a SPORTING chance. so the next time you get a pigeon in your tree leave the thing alone and let it breed. markyboy
when the farmer starts planting by all means go out try and decoy them in,but im not a big fan of shooting somthing for the sake of it. i chose to let things breed that way there will be more to shoot at harvest time. i would take no pleasure whatsoever in shooting a wood pigeon out of a tree with a garden gun. each to their own. night owl
correct mate each to there own . I also am not a fan of shooting some thing for the sake of it that is why that pigeon will end up in a casserole for tea tomorrow night . also i do not see much difference between using a air rifle or 9mm as long as the job is done humanely
sako751sg
Good job fella. The cushies pluck all the new planted stuff in the old mans garden,so they get controlled too.A dead pigeon is a dead pigeon, regardless of method and time. markyboy
a casserole? i think you will need more than one pigeon to get a meal out of it. and at this time of year the pigeons havnt got alot of meat on them so good luck with the dinner! Popgun
here mate,i shoot pigeons but that pigeon you shot was probably paired up and in the middle of building a nest. i have 2 pigeons nesting in my garden but i dont feel the need to go a shoot them. i save that for out in the field where they have a SPORTING chance. so the next time you get a pigeon in your tree leave the thing alone and let it breed. Woodpigeon are classed as vermin so are fair game anytime of the year as for shooting it in the garden or in the fields the outcome is the same 1 dead pigeon. DumBfrieshire must have an un-naturally high rate of anorexia in their pigeons,as my ones just now are very plump and tasty.Oops, how did that B get in there. markyboy
not being difficult this forum is for people to put their views across, not everybody gets praise for killing somthing and posting a picture of it. if i dont like what i see then i will post what i think. popping off pigeons or anything else from your window is surley somthing that a juvenile would carry out. sako, fat pigeon or thin to try and make a casserole out of 1 bird is going to be a pretty measly dinner. I dont "pop" things off from the window, but i do control things by shooting them out of the window and if that makes me juvenile in your eyes then im not going to lose sleep over it.And remember,im not getting at you,im just posting what i think.I respect your view, even though its wrong. aaron airgunner
nice shot. is a 9mm mean it has a 9mm bullet or 9mm cartridge? i have stopped shooting them around about now becasue there building their nests and i want to have game for next year. i'm only shooting to protect my veg patch but i still want to eat pigeon next year. i have shot pigeons out my window with an airgun before. very effective method as your house is practically a hide. i dont see anything wrong with it if there tucking into your veg.
