BIG 5
I seem to suffer badly with gun headache. Some cartridges are ok then others give me trouble. I am wearing Elacin Intersafe personaly moulded ear protection and only shot 6 rounds with a 357 today and yes a stonking headache. Does anyone else suffer and should I try other types of ear protection. Giving up shooting is not an option. Your sensible comments would be appreciated. Imperfection
On shooting rage i prefer to use traditional clam type ear defenders because they block out almost everything.

Harnser
Its proberbly not the bang from the cartridge that is causing the head ache , but the recoil from the gun . Poor gunfit or bad handling will and can cause a head ache . I suffer from an old war wound to the neck and the back and have to be careful how I shoot or else I will suffer a bad head and neck ache . Harnser . I get a headache if not using ear defenders with the shotgun now. Fine with ear defenders - Could shoot hundreds of shots without a problem, but only a dozen shots without them will give me a headache. I use the cheap ALDI electronic defenders. vampire
It sounds like recoil of the gun is jarring neck/head which will cause a headache, can you borrow a semi auto to see if this is the case rather than the bang, works for me only get a headache when using the sxs and it does fit properly mounted properly and light cartridges, but i have suffered with neck problems for years, visit a bone cruncher they will soon let you know if something is out of place
