Lizard165
Just curious as to how far people will travel to their permission. I have just dropped lucky and obtained my second permission, its a good hour and a quarter drive. Its a big lump of land (livestock not crops) with plenty of rabbits and crows with the odd small flock of wood pigeon, so I can get a few shots off when I walk around. When talking about it with some of the lads at my clay club a few said they would not spend that time driving so far to a permission. I like most struggled to get anywhere to shoot and found this type of comment alien. I work 6 days a week so am limited to evenings/Sundays but I never gave the distance or time a second thought. This got me to thinking how far people do actually drive or would be willing to travel? Was this just the comment of a "clay snob" of am I just over eager in willing to travel that far? J@mes
I travel 40 minutes to mine, although like you due to work commitments I haven't been in a while! Luckily the farmer has a full time shooter so doesn't mine me coming and going when I can!

I had some permission out at driffield 1 half hours each way was fine till mixi moved in then i called it a do i would not bother what people say if your happy doing it good for you it will probabley lead to more as well if you do a good job and are responsiable you should get it it passed for rimfire and give yourself more range Am based in Elland west yorkshire and reguarly travel up and down m62 to a1 shooting nppc land , the coments you get are because they probabley have no where to shoot and are jealous. if theirs plenty of rabbits to go at making it worth while and it could lead to further land stick with it mate

Lizard165
Cheers guys, I get the impression that us town n city folk have to travel further and further to drop on a permission. I do have a small permission 5 minutes down the road that I don't want to over shoot, but with this second one I take the view of beggars can't be chooser's and it is a nice drive! Magus69
I travel the length and breadth of the country for my shooting.Last friday night we were down Nottingham way foxing following a call from the farmer almost a 3 hour round trip, pigeon shooting god we can be anywhere from 10 mins away to 2hours+,my deer stalking roe is approx 3 hours away and reds about 4.5 hours away, our pheasant/partridge shoot is just shy of 2 hours away. I think if you really want to shoot and are dedicated it don't matter how far away the shooting is you'll do it. Mike...
Dave-G
1 mile to my nearest so so one, up to 25 miles away for my better Leicester/Rutland ones - and 320 miles to my very best ones around South West Cornwall.
