Beardo
i've certainly used Coke before - breaks down meat fantastically, very good for ribs.
garyb
It was red wine, and some sort of BBQ rub ?
Mungler
It was left to marinade in my pants for the week before. Obviously I didn't taste any of the meat to test it, but I am glad it was well received. I have a leg of lamb on the go at the moment in my pants. Oh hang on, nope, I'm just pleased to be here and typing this reply. Edited May 24, 2010 by Mungler

al4x
Having met SS and his penchant for the gruesome and groteque are you sure it was Muntjac and he didn't try and fob you off with fox, well marinated to hide the smell rumour has it he does a fine line in horse steaks as well Edited May 21, 2010 by al4x
Beardo
I could do with this recipe too, the freezer is still full of bambi this is my one, great for Beef, have to say, not tried it with venison. 1 can of coke good glug of soy sauce good glug of olive oil good glug of vinegar 2 garlic cloves (crushed) Salt Pepper combine above and marinade meat for a few hours to overnight tenderises even the toughest meat, tends to work better with cubes or steaks rather than joints. Do you think it will work with cubed neck of venison, as I usually just casserole it whole for 2-4 hrs and the last one didn`t even get close, however she was V.V. old ? Stealth Stalker
From a very hazy memory due to the copious amounts of beer & strawberry vodka the recipe went: Half a bottle of red wine courtesy of Ferret Masters old man A good glug of olive oil A handfull of crushed juniper berries A few twists of salt & pepper Seperate the three joints from the haunch remove the chewy bits then dice into 1.5" squares mix the meat in with the marinade then wrap in foil & leave in the fridge in Lefty towers. Skewer the meat up then BBQ for no longer than a minute. Lovely SS
