webber
10WM and I attended a Fox Contol course today on the Duke of Westminsters Estate at Eaton near Chester. The course was organised and run by Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust. The course covered the various aspects of law covering the various methods employed to control foxes, best practice for the various methods employed. We both passed the exam, learned a lot, and was impressed by the knowledge and skills of the lecturers and dedication that the estates keepers displayed. Well worth the modest cost involved, and the certificate is in the post. webber

Paddy Galore!
and how long before we need one for rabbit & pigeon? Although it might deter some of the more "gun totin' hill billies" from blasting the hell out of them just for the sake of it. You might want to add - "And haven't got a clue" to the end of that sentence mate! Only last year I had to take a big old dog fox out with the shotgun after someone had left him wounded by putting a small calibre round through his back leg! Behaviour like that is enexcusable, if you can't do the job properly don't try doing it at all untill you have been taught how to do it properly and humanely! O.K. Rant over! webber
The course cost was £50. The majority of participants were gamekeepers. The course covers all aspects of fox control through the seasons, and ensures that you are aware of best practice and the law appertaining to it. The course does not access your competence. GWCT intend to run further courses on control of mustelids, and crow control. webber

It won't stop it happening bad luck does happen, whatever caliber I've a mate removed ones leg with a 270. Caught up with it the next night but he shoots upwards of 150 a year. Its useful for people getting started and good to see a decent shoot if you aren't used to seeing them but I'd agree how long before they start being compulsory
