anser2
"Blackpowder" I use a semi auto ( browning Gold ) and several s\s guns pigeon shooting. But I always shoot better at pigeons with the S\Ss , lighter gun to handle and the sighting plain for me is so much better. I seem to be able to work out lead so muich better with a s\s. There are times with an o\u and s\a that I find long crossing shots almost impossible to hit. I was given a very good quality o\u a few years ago and had one day on a rape stubble when I missed every crossing shot ( about 150 ) I had only bagging 50 pigeons for 224 shots. All the birds i hit were incomming birds. I expect to get 2 pigeons for every 3 crossing birds when using a s\s. But everyone has their own personel choice as what works best for them. big simmo999
for some reason I'm **** with my semi auto!! so I use the o/u My semi is a webley 3.5 mag - but i cant slide a cartridge in unless i push the button on the side at the same time - not exactly speed loading :( My mate has a Benelli and he just pops the shells in Edited June 19, 2010 by big simmo999
12borejimbo
I have an escort which I cant fault it atall, however I do want to get a Benelli m2 in FAC to fill my slot, the keeper has a 5 shot super 90 and I use it more than him, my favourite gun, he wont sell it though, just handles so smoothly and weighs literally nothing, but he likes my escort, so that says something. Even thought the name sounds like a dodgy back page advert in the sunday sport, hahaha. Get one, they hold value and have a great use for everything except paid days. Lez325
I was thinking a Hatsan Escort Magnum for the money.....anyone recommend anything else? Cheers Blacta Beretta 301 - 302 or 303 cheap enough and cycle without fault (and I have a 301 for sale lol) Les
reedbradshaw
have to agree there. I went claying on Wednesday with my a303 against my mate with his escort. the beretta never skipped a beat whilst the escort had so many jams i lost count. Even though my bereta is a few years older than the escort it felt a better quality gun and to me was much more pointable. I suppose you get what you pay for......but then again my a303 with 2 barrels & chokes in decent condition is only worth about £400!
harwoody
Just wondering what people thought about semi auto's for pigeon shooting in comparison to SbS and O/U? Cheers Ive used a sxs, o/u and 2 x semi. I would stick to semi purely because its easier in the hide, easy to load but thats personal choice. Ive had a Remington 1100 and now on a berretta. must admit I miss my Remington. Both are good and reasonably priced. Good Luck

And a second hand escort is worth less than £300 - Beretta vs Escort I know where I'd spend my hard earned Fella! and Beretta's seldom jam in my experience and Ive owned a few Les

bluboy
Easier to load much easier on the shoulder on big days do beware of the cheaper autos had an escort out on a five hundred shot day and had to replace the rubber washer twice it melted. TJ91
guns cars bikes...there all the same.... some people buy them and they work perfect, others buy the exact same and have nowt but problems..its pot luck my dad used to have a 303 it wasnt too great, had atleast 1 jam every 200 shots, he cleaned it every time he shot, thoroughly (he spent longer cleaning than he did shooting the dam thing abit of a perfectionist!) my uncle bought 1 the same about the same age, he still has it, uses it for everything and has never had a problem, it ejects everything! i used to have dim views on the escort but after spending 3days with my mates escort in hand (day 1-174shots, no jams..day 2-237shots, no jams..day 3 118 shots, no jams...all days were with 30gm 6's, 2 n 3quarter inch shells)the rubber o-ring is still goin strong and i havent stripped and cleaned it properly, just made sure the gas port hole things were clear everytime i took it out! the farmer i shoot for bought 1 brand new, oiled it took it out, 34shots and it jammed, another 7 it jammed again, it got put in the cabinet for about 2 months then got sold for pennys
