Sundodger
do not bother unless you stand on the edge of a wood under a flight line. you would be better of decoying. Sundodger
Itchen
sorry, i'm a bit of a noob but i assume roosting is simply hooting the birds while they are in their nests? can anyone tell me if that's allowed? x
Cosd
sorry, i'm a bit of a noob but i assume roosting is simply hooting the birds while they are in their nests? can anyone tell me if that's allowed? x Roost shooting is when you stand either at the edge of a wood or inside and shoot the pigeons as they come in to roost (rest/sleep) for the night Generally all you need is your gun, shells, camo clothing, including face vale and gloves. Some people set up a net on a couple of hide poles to stand behind. The sport can be fast and furious if your wood is holding large numbers and you can get under the entry point. Guest
I wouldn't recommend that you attempt to shoot a wood at this time of year because you'll struggle to see the birds as they come in to roost! If you want any useful tips then i suggest you find a tree with pigeon droppings around it as this is a good sign of roosting pigeons and that you also are well camouflaged! Preferably wear a face vale as you'll be spending most of the time looking straight up into the air so without one your face will stick out like a sore thumb against the wood floor!
